Oh cool another thing ruined by tariffs

The BOM for the components alone without the print is USD240. Why is the article talking about USD100?

Official repo says $114 per arm, but I didn't check their math :) https://github.com/huggingface/lerobot

Their build instructions state 242 for a single arm. Lots of contradicting information. Maybe they are betting on insane economies of scale... 🙄

Edit: Haha, I think I figured it out. USD 120 are the 3d print parts alone. That's not a false promise at all!

Still, that's an entirely attainable goal for a community of compassionate printers like us, right? Estimate $500 apiece, and still a steal compared to the competition, and just imagine the joy each will bring to the lucky recipient, too! That's awesome, any way ya slice it ^sorry-not-sorry^ 😜

In the EU it is actually 114€ per arm

deafboy@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Still peanuts compared to Parlor 6 - 2450€ for a diy kit, 3690 € for the assembled thing.

tofubl@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 1y

I mean there are robot arms for a lot more than that, but that's not the point. It's like saying a Parol 6 costs 5 bucks, but it's actually the price of the mounting screws.

Makes me think of the Big Bang Theory episode.

sepi@piefed.social · 1 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Which one?

ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 1y (3 replies)

The one where Howard uses a robot arm to jerk off I would assume

sepi@piefed.social · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I wouldn't know anyway cos I don't watch trash

ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 1y

Then why ask which one if you haven't watched it and think it's trash? Just to publicly state that you hate it? Seems a bit weird...

Nice conversation

Are there videos of it operational? If there are in any of these links I missed it.

I didn't see what the software is you can use to controll it.
