Is there a way to do this without letting Google know?

Proton send me this offer with a timer of 2,3 days.

I'd gladly take the offer if there wasn't the potential for me to accidentally show Google my proton mail.. Is there a way for a newbie like me?

Don't setup an auto forward? Use it as a chance for a clean slate.

I mean yes, doesnt change the fact that I got the extra space without letting google know via a throwaway adress

You can set up the auto forward to an alias, so Gmail wouldn't even see your original address.

im a bit too dumb, may I ask how to do this exactly?

email is like network backend stuff to me, bot equally confusing. Ive never felt like Ive figured them out really

EDIT: oh and is this the same as Stillwater@sh.itjust.works suggested in a comment under this one?

I was more thinking of the Proton Pass alias feature, but now I'm not sure if that's free https://proton.me/support/pass-email-alias

EDIT: I did that but it didnt register sadly, useful tool tho thanks

and i got it to work with creating a throwaway gmail instead via an icognito tab

I want to move away, but 1GB? Right now I'm paying $2/mo to get 100GB.

idk I dont get so many big sized mails, and if so I mostly just download these attachments

You can pay for more space on Proton as well, though it's a little more than $2 a month

Hold on, I am in the process of moving to proton j and then discontinuing my gmail. But I am clearing out last 15 years of gmail crap before I run the wizard from proton to grab all my gmail mails....I guess there is no other way when you want to close down a gmail account eventually?
