I have a non gms ROM (e/os) I have shelter (work profile jail), and WhatsApp is living in the jail and doesn't see any contacts or rest of the phone.... I split my comms to (beeper for all texts that I don't care about for privacy that I can not get away from e..g LinkedIn/WhatsApp/g messenger but I have signal/briar that actually runs on the phone (non shelter). And I refuse to add them to beeper.
Just like other said about physically access, not gonna repeat that. Additionally, afaik there are pixels, brax me, FairPhones (via murena I.e. e/os) and some very custom made phones from sweden/Switzerland that allows relock (like someone said about the keys), I am not aware of any others. Personally I am on FairPhone with e/OS for this very reason. (As my sony's were unlocked while on lineage or e/os ). I wish EU passes a law that required all odm/oems to allow aosp (non gms) and their custom factory os like the pc market.... People should be able to own the hardware they paid for. Not ransomed by the odm/oem with their software keys. (Same goes for cars/bikes/ appliances).
Can someone explain this to me. When you setup pebble on this new open source app, does the app connect to the internet? Who controls those servers? Is it rebble or this company LLC that Eric created? Who is server admin?
I wanna discuss with you, because this is exactly what I thought... I've gotten almost down to, contacts/email/messengers and then there are a couple apps which does govt id (like 2fa) that don't have desktop version, grayjay, osm, whether, gadget bridge etc.... And that's it. I was wondering if any device with Ubuntu touch could do that.
And one interesting thing I wanted to think is that if there is a cm5 (the blackberry raspberry pie thing) that connects to a 5g hotspot for wifi, can I run max things via browser and IP phone....etc.... Would be an interesting experience/ experiment
I am in finance/accounting/consulting and I run one self hosted small server at home to manage my home machines remotely and use it with combo of proton to do most things.
While I am in the process of de-googleing I haven't self hosted photo or email yet as proton has been working okay for the time being. One step at a time I guess for me... I am not in IT so it requires time for me to read up on things and set them up (rtfm indeed)....(yes we all know what proton CEO said.... )...let's see how it pans out.and this has been quite a journey for me. I am still having issues with family and friends not wanting to use jitsi (that I am using for calls or contact me on signal). I have basically thrown WhatsApp and anything I don't care about within beeper under a work profile (android) I.e. in a sandbox / appimage (laptop).
Personally if next cloud allowed self hosting with self email hosting (whatever the technical terminology is) that would have been (chef's kiss) muah....I would have jumped on it first hand...
Sorry I am not in IT so my jargon usage might be sub par.
Went through the same thing. Paused between Murena (at that time they weren't providing my personal domain / email address solution) and nextcloud, and proton.
I went with proton. I could in theory do nexrcloud +proton. You do you.
And for notes, I went markdown route and obsidian.
Hold on, I am in the process of moving to proton j and then discontinuing my gmail. But I am clearing out last 15 years of gmail crap before I run the wizard from proton to grab all my gmail mails....I guess there is no other way when you want to close down a gmail account eventually?
Which elements do you want in it that you can not find ?
Only simple transitions like this or I am sure you have specific issue....

Check ZSA website for ergo or checkout Nuphy website for traditional mechanical slim ones. The softwares they use are OS agnostic and save settings in the firmware....so you can bring your keyboard anywhere and connect to anything and still have all your custom shortcuts / macros.
I fully switched to fairphone 5 but with proton paid accounts last year.(that was before the hoo hah of their CEO tweets making the rounds). At that time Murena did not support custom domains and I needed that.
Now the E/is and murenas web apps (running with nextcloud, you can get their cloud instead of nextcloud self host, and use a local drove for backups, (that is what I do).
That can work really well. Look at their compatible phone list. I flahsed on am old Sony I had and ran parallel with fair phone on Google android and got comfortable moving things. Then flashed eos on fp5 and formatted Sony. Now another family member will repeat the process.
And for calls and things I am using jitsi and signal.
I have no idea how and which server I joined, is there any manial I can read better yet visually see how servers are connected that are federated? Thx.
And when we search something does it search across all servers? Thanks.
I am using e/os, it has something similar to aurora and like some one else said, ot gets apps anonymous. No sign in.
Takeout dot Google dot com

Obsidian and good ol' paper and pen. (or epaper). The paper I use is on bullet jpurnal style.
I ended up buying from boox's own site and it.it advertised as felt like, and that gives the original feel that note series came with.
Submitted.

Look into /e/OS , lineage, and graphene. On the /e/os page, there is a big explanation also on grapahenes documentation page. That helped me a lot.

Wouw, I am getting old....
Check ZSA website for ergo or checkout Nuphy website for traditional mechanical slim ones. Or checkout WASD keyboards for custom.
