fucken hell, incident on werribee line, very tall muscular arsehole threatens to kill the muslims in the carriage

people crowd around the muslims in carriage to protect

at the next stop I got off and called emergency line, cops and train driver informed within 1 minute

i'm not scared, just angry

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 1y (3 replies)

That's freaking terrifying. I hate that festering pustules like this can have so much power. Hope he gets put away for a good while

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

will he?

I imagine he will say he said and did nothing serious

would witnesses come forward?

maybe there are cameras in carriages

kudra@aus.social · 9 pts · 1y (1 reply)

@Seagoon_ @just_kitten oh there are definitely cameras in the carriages.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

good

TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (2 replies)

You did exactly the right thing (brother is a train driver). There are protocols for dealing with such arseholes, and he's in a world of hurt right now. The railways take that sort of behaviour very seriously - not just the vilification laws apply here. Remember the emergency button next to each door - it's there for this purpose.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

I looked for the button, could not find it it

to actually yell in a public place, in a train carriage where people are captive, that he is going to kill , to rattle his bag, to say he had heavy objects in his bag, **that was some very very serious shit **

he told us who he was

he told us who he hates

he gave his justification, ie people who are against him deserve to die

he rattled his weapons

he told us what he was going to do

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Omg that's horrible ๐Ÿ˜ž

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I am both ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿ˜ญ

makes me so sad that people were threatened and were scared

also makes me ashamed, Australia is where people come to be safe

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Yeah it is rage-sad. Good that there were enough others to protect them and you were able to alert the coppers. Bloody hell I'd be shaky after that

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

I'll be shaky tomorrow

I've been thinking how easy it would be for witnesses to not understand what was going on

just another bogan is what a lot of people might think,

but this guy was very specific in his narrative and actions and he actually spurred me into action. I do not react so easily.

seriously, the kind of insane prick who would have a bomb

tho being cowardly he would leave

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Coward.

This is why I started muay Thai.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y (3 replies)

If that dude happens to be fucked up on meth I could be a 5-time Australian MMA champion and I'd give him a w i d e berth.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I've never picked a fight or actively antagonised anyone in my life.

But sometimes, people want to hurt you no matter what. As demonstrated above.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

True, that.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

yes

sometimes the decision to act is made for us, whether we want it or not

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I'm so sorry you and the others in the carriage had to go through that, what an awful situation. You did so good to call for help and I love to hear that others helped. What a shitty, shitty thing for that man to do. Look after yourself tonight, you are such an amazing person.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

there was a young kid who got off at the same station as me, he was a witness in the same carriage but at the other end and he helped with details for the cops. He was a little shook up.

I've been wondering if I over reacted but the targets of this guy's threats were terrified. It was real. ๐Ÿ˜

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

You did not over react. The situation was real and you handled it so well.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

Jesus, I'm glad you're ok.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (1 reply)

That's so scummy. I hope he goes to jail, repeats that to a large group of the people he's racist towards, and enjoys his reward... Racists seem to be getting bolder and I wish something would smack them back into their holes.

It really sucks that I wouldn't be able to do much to physically protect anyone in that situation. You did so well.

Edit: I've also thought that it's really dumb to make people push the emergency button in plain view of an aggressive arsehole, especially if you're required to verbally give the carriage number or tell them the situation. Because that might draw the aggression onto the person alerting the driver and even escalate the situation. I know there's STOP IT but that's non-urgent and wouldn't get real time help

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y

: Iโ€™ve also thought that itโ€™s really dumb to make people push the emergency button in plain view of an aggressive arsehole,

this is the other reason i did not do it

just trying to keep it low key

: wouldnโ€™t get real time help

yup

Fluff brigade

TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (5 replies)

Can I take the little dark tabby floof at the back home with me?

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (4 replies)

I will happily pick them up for you. This Fluffball rubs up against my legs.

TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y (3 replies)

Pretty serious offer. If/when you do catch them please let me know. I definitely will take the little dark one. Will need to uber over to you to pick him/her up. Yes, I've tamed feral cats before.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

OK leave it with me for the moment. Across the road is a lady that might be able to help me gather them.

I'll keep you posted.

Will Defs take them to the vet to get checked for chips as well.

TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Sorry for the late reply - been out at a magic party a couple of doors down the street. Please keep me posted. Little guy/gal has just hit a nerve with me. Want him/her in my life.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

That sounds fun!!!

No worries, will do :)

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (1 reply)

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

They seem healthy, but I was supposed to trap them so they can be deflead and deworned but work has gotten in the way.

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 1y

Got to do some grocery shopping for the weekend, tackle Mt Washmore and very little else. I've got lunch planned for tomorrow; there's pumpkin, spinach and ricotta lasagna with roast vegetables and a couple of schnitzels for the kids. Looking forward to it!

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 1y

Homeward bound. 20 mins until my train back to Melbourne. Had a great time and met my good friend's friends. He hired a company that makes fire cooked pizza, they drive in with a trailer of two wood fired pizza ovens and supplies, and kept us fed with fresh pizza for hours. Quite buzzed and glad I didn't stay longer or I'd be toast

Pilk@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 1y (8 replies)

Biscoff is not good enough to merit a collab with literally every food brand in existence. They must be spending an absolute fortune.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Iโ€™m not sure what youโ€™re saying here. If you combine Biscoff with a spoon, something magical happens..

Force_majeure123@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 1y

Biscoff is in Big spoons pocket is what he's saying

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Biscoff spread, omg yes. Biscoff on biscoff for biscoff's sake... IDK.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 1y

Right! Like Aperol a couple of summers ago. Why is it everywhere?!

PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

The first few times I tasted it I loved it, but I got sick of it pretty quickly. I've got a half used jar I bought for something I made that's probably due to be chucked out.

Looks like Bazza is installing on the old work laptop now. Bitlocker was getting in the way so I used command prompt to reformat the drive.

I had to use Windows to destroy the Windows.

Oh how poetic

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (6 replies)

It's going to take a bit more work, but at least I have a massive partition of spyware out of the way for the moment

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 1y (5 replies)

If it wasn't for the audio software I'd have gotten rid of windows ages ago.

Sadly the majority of DAW and plugins don't run on Linux or id have to run them in an emulator.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (4 replies)

Yeah, none of the major ones are on Linux. The simpler plugins should just work but anything that breaks your workflow too much will be a deal breaker.

I use waveform and it has a Linux version. Ardour is another DAW that's been getting popular on Linux. It might be worth checking out

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 1y (3 replies)

I've heard of ardour before. Will suss it out.

Can x64 apps be emulated on Linux without much CPU and ram overhead?

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Yeah, WINE has come a long way since Steam uses it for the Steamdeck. It's quite common for programs to run better on Linux than Windows now

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 1y

Shit. Might do some testing and see what the deal is.

I'm upgrading to a 9500x3d CPU soon. I think that's what it is. Be curious to see the results.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 1y

I have an errand to run which will get me back home hopefully by 2pm latest then it's gaaaaaaaames all day and guitar all night.

Had an awesome little jam yesterday. When I haven't played for a few days it kinda builds up which is cool.

Also I'm done with cyberpunk. It's my perfect dopamine game so it needs to go for a while.

Helped aunt out with what turned out to be some rather disastrous painting of some old cabinetry with wall paint and wall tiles with metal paint. I am not good at this but it was fun helping out and tidying out some insanely messy areas. The place looks so different now, absolutely not suitable for old people but I'll be sad to see it go and not get to visit them there. Anyway I'm properly pooped. Psyched to get some house chores smashed tomorrow though

::: spoiler Cat tmi, medical

Also I was right - the vet thankfully changed it to a phone call and said immediately that Melbcat has a raging uti. Bacteria, pus, the works. Exactly as I expected.

I already gave her a dose of the enrofloxacin and will continue twice daily until itโ€™s finished. Heโ€™s ordering in a urinary support supplement that we might not have tried ๐Ÿคž

:::

Iโ€™m wondering if itโ€™s ok to email the vet asking for more details on the risks the new vet was referring to when he declined to perform the cystocentosis - and ask that it be done when I tell them itโ€™s needed.

And if thereโ€™s any more not being listened to/heโ€™s not confident performing it, potentially even ask that we not be assigned to that vet again.

I donโ€™t want to antagonise her primary care providers and refusing any particular staff member could be problematic when she needs to be seen and theyโ€™re the only one available. But that created such unnecessary delay in sorting out treatment while Melbcat was in pain. ๐Ÿซค

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

Thereโ€™s a vet appointment for Melbcat today that I have to decide whether Iโ€™m going to keep. Iโ€™ll ring and ask.

::: spoiler spoiler I might give it up for someone on the cancellation list because sheโ€™s just been and Iโ€™m mainly waiting to hear whether I can start giving antibiotics. I have some here.

She needed extra pain relief last night so if results arenโ€™t back soon Iโ€™ll probably just start what I have whether they say so or not. From the distinctive smell it possibly is one of those resistant nasty strains that usually do need the enro.

I already had to delay her with pain relief through Tuesday while I had my tooth pulled. She was seen Wednesday but I had the dr myself Thursday and was only able to get a sample that night, which left me taking the sample in Fridayโ€ฆ

If that new guy had just done the cysto on Wednesday the results would be in sooner. :::

Edit: Nope, the vet will discuss the results today in consult. Guess after morning meds Iโ€™m scraping up the energy to shower and get ready. At least itโ€™s one whoโ€™s seen us before.

I tidied a bit yesterday and did one load of laundry but thereโ€™s more to go then I have to wash the cups and sweep. Melbcat was sick in the wee hours this morning so Iโ€™ll soak that with enzyme cleaner.

My box of antibiotics with a few pills left has racked off into the ether so Iโ€™m just going to start the newest box. These are three times daily -_-

Between being careful of my sus tooth socket (which better not be getting infected) and my stomach starting to shut down again I can barely eat anything. My mental health is crumbling.

Iโ€™ve woken up tired.

::: spoiler Bee butt :::

Sending care and strength thoughts in your direction Melbs. May it go smoothly and may Melbcat respond quickly to the antibiotics and may you get some repreive soon.
