At this point, I think Nintendo could claim to have invented the idea of video games and courts would agree.

Japanese patent law is so bonkers I am almost surprised there isn‘t far more patent trolling going on. I say almost because it‘s also a monopolistic dystopia and huge companies would ruin your life with an army of lawyers and the full support of the public if you annoy them.
