Honestly, I'd argue that bank robbery in the modern era isn't all that lucrative, even without accounting for all the risks. There was a time when a single haul could last a lifetime. These days, one might only take a few years' worth of wages. Combine that with having to deal with modern security measures, and the cost-to-benefit ratio looks pretty unfavorable compared to just working a job.
