Just had a friend and her little cat visit so the cat can suss out the place because I am gonna cat sit her for a month. ๐ป
And little kitty was very chilled out and at home so I think it's all gonna be ok. Yay! Cat aunt time coming up
Soooo... This all happened very last minute because her owner is a bit of an unreliable/unpredictable sort but WE HAVE A SPECIAL GUEST IN DA HOUZ (for two to maybe three weeks)

She's randomly hissed and panted at me out of nowhere twice but seems to be mostly just investigating and figuring shit out, definitely not combative, just on guard. The first night is harder now that her owner and I aren't in the same building and she can't visualise my place as an extension of her old home. It's her first time in this apartment too. But she'll settle down soon enough I think. As long as she keeps to gnawing cardboard and not my houseplants.

Thrombolites can be distinguished from microbialites or stromatolites by their massive size, which is characterized by macroscopic clotted fabric. Stromatolites are similar but consist of layered accretions. Thrombolites appear with random patterns that can be seen by the naked eye, while stromatolites has the texture of built-up layers.[2]
Hope none of yas have gotten caught up in that Norflands lockdown going on atm... E: which seemed to have been relatively short-lived. Maybe 20 minutes. I was wrong, closer to an hour, but took a bit of time to hit the news?
All these people running around with sharp objects. Did their parents miss teaching them the don't-run-with-scissors lesson, or did it not sink in properly? I get nervous walking while holding anything vaguely pointy, running while holding a machete is definitely not happening.
I wonder what would happen if a second seagull tried to stand on an already occupied rock. Would it by like when a person stands too close in your personal space and you back up and end up being walked across the room? I'm envisaging an ongoing chain reaction of seagulls moving from rock to rock to rock.
::: spoiler Bummer
Iโm feeling really out of sorts and just wanting to isolate myself. I donโt want to reach out to my friends.
Living in this shithole is stifling. The people around me are bad news, anything I want to do is pointless or off limits and I donโt even feel comfortable going for a walk.
I have no idea how I used to be an adventurous social person

The epitome of a sociopath. She did not care about how her treatment of others reflected on her at all. Or maybe she liked being cruel. The father seemed to live in hubric denial.
Not one act of kindness from the woman, not one, not even to her husband.
It didn't surprise me they were all victim to slum lords and price gouging shop keepers, people can be so clueless.
It wasn't the poverty that got me angry, it was the cruelty and hubris.
Did it ever occur to any of them to read a fricken book on how to live, how to eat, how to manage money? Again, hubris. I know many very well educated people who think they know better or don't need to self educate about mundane things.
The mother seemed to me like she really didn't want children but was expected to have them because of that time but she had them knowing that she didn't need to look after them. She had no clue on how to raise them. They became a burden to her.
I'm now thinking she may have had post partum depression
I kept going argh because they left their home town, they should have stayed where they knew people and had better government support
But maybe the husband burned his bridges and no one they knew wanted anything to do with them. I am reminded it was strangers who helped him, people he didn't know from his regiment and people he didn't know from his school.
Edit: Cleaning spots on carpet (windows and wooden doors open to air out the scent) and Melbcat cheerfully walked through the wet cleaning product. She got upset when I wiped her feet.
