Just install it a few times without archinstall following the wiki and you will soon have better knowledge about linux filesystem and cli than the others.

ElectronSoup@kbin.social · 5 pts · 3y

That wiki install method is really terrible, 20 years ago I was using LFS as a daily driver, but still I look at the Arch wiki and go 'you want me to do WHAT to install?'

Kutsuya@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

I use arch since 2019 and man does the wiki SUCK! You're better off googling everything since the wiki seems to contradict itself quite often too :/.

So what's Gentoo doing in all this? Murdering you in your sleep?

ReCursing@kbin.social · 13 pts · 3y (1 reply)

It just abandons its eggs before they hatch

Qopper@surom.de · 2 pts · 3y

You habe to hatch yourself, just Luke every other Gentoo user

"Just enjoy the ride... yaaahhhh im compiling maaaaannnn"

SquishyPandaDev@yiffit.net · 7 pts · 3y (3 replies)

What would Gentoo be? Sea turtles?

Brkdncr@kbin.social · 6 pts · 3y (2 replies)

The last panel but also with an instruction pamphlet.

DoruDoLasu@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

instructions are pretty good, but the tree is way higher (never installed Gentoo, but judging from how detailed the how to boot section of the install guide is, maybe I wouldn't be too lost if I did)

Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 3y

I swear at one point I tried installing Gentoo, the manual could of just said "Compile your own shit pleb“

I use vanillaOS now

Seven@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 3y

lfs is you as a cell coming out of some primordial soup

Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

Arch isn't real?

presto@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 3y

My Fedora sits on a remote cliff. The remains of a pre-RHEL RedHat egg shell can be seen far below. It is cold and alone there, but it is a familiar cold.

Gordon@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 3y

Okay true, but arch is really neat and minimal for when that matters

GustavoM@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3y

Me, if I were that bird on the last square:

"Jokes on you, IM ADOPTED!"

nottheengineer@feddit.de · 1 pts · 3y

I learned more by setting arch up once than I did in a few years of using noob distros.

And I found out that most of the RTFM comments are justified because the manual is incredibly good.
