But at what cost? Enshittification

cyborganism@piefed.ca · 11 pts · 1y (4 replies)

What enshittification? It's one of the best distributions out there!

Nagging for the Pro.

Expanded Security Maintenance, means:

With the launch of Ubuntu Pro, all of the packages in Ubuntu Universe get the same security maintenance commitment from Canonical as packages in Ubuntu Main.

So? You still get the updates sooner or later.

ENDELAYIFICATION IS STILL BAD!!!

Pro is free for personal use for up to 5 machines. Is there a problem with activating it?

Considering they're an enterprise player, and so well-known, that actually seems surprisingly low to me, especially since that's revenue not profit.

Revenue is a useless metric. What's the profit?

gopher@programming.dev · 29 pts · 1y

It's in the article.

Of their $291M in revenue, they reported a gross profit of $258M and an operating profit of $15.5M.

If they go public I'm changing distros

Sounds bad.
