I went to cnn to try and didn't have any. I couldn't find the exact article in your screen but I tried a few without any popup.

Did you enable uBO annoyances lists?

I use uBO and still sometimes get on-page popups. "Modals" would be the correct word, I'd say.

I've never experienced any breakage.

Popup blockers aren't as satisfying as a browser plugin that adds a "Fuck Off" button to them.

How I sleep after clicking "continue without disabling ad blocker" knowing that pi-hole has my back on any device on my network.
