why I haven't gotten any work done today
- clothes feel weird, need to change them
- just heard thunder, better check the weather (even though I'm not going anywhere lol)
- oh shit did I feed the fish!?
- my mouth is dry
- 3020393920 unread texts and emails
- I didn't brush my teeth this morning and my mouth feels gross
- have to poop
- now I can't brush my teeth until the bathroom stops being stinky
- fan is blowing hair in face, gotta go find bandana to tie it back
- it's too hot in here
- now it's too cold in here
- no matter what i do it's too humid
- my glasses are smudgy but the cleaning cloth is on the other side of the room
- oops I got hungry again
- now my stomach hurts because I ate too fast
- HOW THE FUCK IS IT 6:23 PM AND I HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED!?
- I'm posting on lemmy lol

Putting off finding a new apartment for the 50th day because I have an idea I want to test out. Not like the semester starts and my old lease ends in less than a month…

Oof. This was me last time I had to move. Fortunately a nearby commercial complex had a unit open when I was 2 weeks away from disaster
Commercial rentals suck way more than renting from an individual homeowner but at least they're more available...

I moved halfway across the country(NJ to TX) 10 years ago, my move went ok but another co-worker was supposed to move about 3 months later. As he was packing the truck he heard on the news there were tornados near the new place and figured let me just check..
He called up his new apartment complex to confirm everything was OK... "we'll call you back" an hour later he got a phone call "sorry your apartment no longer exists"
He had 5 days to finish packing, drive 29 hours, find a new apartment, do all the paperwork, unpack, return the moving truck, and come to work at 6am the 6th day. I don't know how he did it but he did.
No matter how bad it is, it could always be worse.

holy shit. the fact that he pulled it off is legendary. although, it's also pretty fucked up his job didn't give him a little leeway with the schedule, ffs

They probably would have except it was the week between Christmas and new years so he didn't know who he could contact. In fact when everyone came to the office and heard he was offered a few extra days and he basically responded with... "for what? It's already done"

Putting off finding an apartment because it’s overwhelming. The only things I can find within my price range are for 55+ communities (so I’m not eligible.) Yet, the idea of random roommates gives me paralyzing panic. I have no idea what I’m going to do.

Today's goal was surviving despite spleeping terribly.
Tomorrow's goal is getting an haircut, which is something I deeply hate. Hope I sleep good because it's past 3:00

ayyyy that's also me. slept like crap. woke up at 3:30am. too hungry to go back to sleep. then had to sit upright for 1+ hrs after eating to avoid acid reflux, but too tired to be productive. then crash back asleep, wake up around 2:30pm, feel guilty about not having fed fish, can't take meds now cuz too late in the day... sigh...
i did manage to get 40 minutes of work done. which i guess is more than 0

I would really start with the pooping, as in NOW!!! Especially with an upset tummy.
Brush your teeth in the kitchen sink if you have to.
Set a timer to feed the fish - maybe have it not make any noise like just vibrate, and don't stop it until the fish is fed. If the timer is gone then the fish are fed. I can't handle pets rn though so what do I know... :-P I just really enjoy my patterns rn and want to share that:-D.
Fuck those glasses (not literally, that would make it way worse).

instructions unclear, pooped in the sink and set a timer to fuck the glasses
(haha don't worry, i didn't delay pooping. i never delay pooping when a private bathroom is available. i should have taken the toothbrush to the kitchen sink after though, that's a good idea)

Ah that explains the mystery of why the glasses were wet (with anticipation) then!

While I agree with, and sometimes do, brush teeth at the kitchen sink; there is a pretty big risk the toothbrush just stays in the kitchen...

Get multiple toothbrushes and toothpastes.

It's okay not to be perfect, perhaps:-D

Today I was taking meds and immediately could not remember if I had taken Adderall yet, so I waited it out. I was pretty sure I hadn't, but I also didn't want to mess up. When it turned 2pm and I had not even remotely started doing anything useful, that answered my question...
Pill organizers don't help and I need to visually see how many pills are left so I can put in a refill right away. I definitely go on the side of caution when going through all of the pills each morning. I try to make a pile first, but I will also take one or two of them while sorting and not notice. I have to break most of my pills, so I know how each one tastes, the texture, etc. This helps fix mistakes if my brain really doesn't want to cooperate, with last resort of waiting if it is something really bad if I take double.
Insert other moments of confusion, stimming, and failures as needed.

Don't leave us in suspense, did you feed the fish or not?
janus2@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 1y
Yes! Poor things were hungry. :( I set up a reminder for the rest of the week that I'm fish-sitting

I worked very hard all day on very small things. I was pretty well rested and properly medicated.
At the end of the day, however, I had made progress forward, but also had discovered issues with my earlier work, setting me back an amount commensurate with my progress.
Tuesday will be more challenging, I have some things that are causing me anxiety, and I expect them to be worse Tuesday. Whee.
