The jar with the stern chinese woman on the label contains wonders.

I like the one where she cooks at you with slight disdain. Such good oyster sauce. So much judgement.

nialv7@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Btw she's a billionaire now.

If you like that check out the black bean and garlic sauce!! It’s absolutely crack in any Asian dish.

That and the Chiu Chow chilli oil are the bomb.

My personal fave is the blend of both worlds with the black bean chili crisp ✨✨✨

For those who don't know, it's Lao Gan Ma, a chilli oil brand well-known in China and more and more so in other countries.

That stuff is bad ass. I mix it with soy sauce for dipping pot stickers in.

It's great to just spice up some soup too

It's so good. I moved somewhere with a large Chinese community, so items like this are stocked in my local supermarket. I had heard about it and assumed it was overhyped, but after trying it, I see how versatile it is.

Tell me you explain this to your new neighbours.

"So what brings you here? Work? Family?" "Chilli supply."

scytale@piefed.zip · 16 pts · 1y

That thing can make me eat way more rice than I should if I mix it in.

This chili crisp is also really good on peanut butter sandwiches (or just anything)

Stern Asian Grandma is most displeased with how spicy my dish was yet again, and demands i add a heaping spoonful of chilli crunch to fix it!

MacNCheezus@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 1y (2 replies)

So I take it you’re a fan of the ol’ spicy butthole…

BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1y

Chili crisps are not that spicy, you can eat it by the spoonful

fibojoly@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 1y

That's not even considered spicy. That's just basic flavouring.

omgboom@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 1y

It makes everything taste so much better

Someplaceunknown@leminal.space · 3 pts · 1y (2 replies)

I wish they sold this where I live

iMastari@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1y

I buy this at my local Walmart, if that helps you.

fibojoly@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 1y

We moved to the arsehole of France, so my wife just orders a monthly delivery of Chinese products straight from China, these days.
