When I connect my #fairphone4 to the laptop via #USB, it's like a 50/50 chance that the speed I get is 480Mbit/s or 5Gbit/s.

Interesting hypothesis.
This should be a rather decent one and I'm quite sure I always had this issue with any cable but I'll test with another cable.
