Fairphone 6 or Nothing 3

I want to get a new phone and I'm very much on the fence between Fairphone 6 and Nothing Phone 3... For me most important in a phone is battery life and quality of photos. However, since my current phone's battery has severely declined recently, I'm also interested in having a phone where I can replace the battery. I definitely like the Fairphone's whole idea of sustainability and fair working conditions, etc. My only worry with the Fairphone is the camera quality, my partner has a FP3 and the camera is really bad.

Well, the FP6 is not going to win any prizes for it's camera. But apparently they got a lot better starting with the FP5.

Get the FP and sideload Gcam.

What's Gcam?

I wish FP6 was sold is the states. I love framework laptop. Its like the same. I always blow out my USB ports. Also Ubuntu touch support.

Late reply, but Fairphone 6 is sold in the US on the Murena website as an officially authorized seller. It comes with e/os so you'd have to re-flash the OS if you need google play services.

There's also Clove Technology, but that ships from outside the US so you have to deal with US Customs.

I don't think either of them sell the USB ports tho. So I'm no much better off.

Well its still kinda new and there's customs issues with the current admin. I'd check back on their store webpage in like a month to see if they added more FP6 parts. Good luck.

(I personally don't use Fairphones, just wanted to share cuz I dislike the current reigning monopolistic phone manufacturers)

I would say probably the FP6 if you care about sustainability, fair materials and working conditions, etc. It also seems to be a solid phone with decent cameras and performance, though with a higher price than phones with equivalent specs due to the first point. The FP cameras have improved a lot since the 3, they seem very usable in the few reviews I’ve seen.

I will say that, since you care about both battery life and camera quality, you might want to check out the Xiaomi 15 if it’s available at a good price. I’m certain Xiaomi doesn’t have the fair working conditions and materials like FP does, and they definitely don’t aim to make their phones ultra-repairable.

Nothing probably has the better processor, so go with that. They’re already underpowered as it is.

If out of the two choices your partner already has one of the choices, just get the other one?
