Also did anyone you know get one of Multi Level Hippie Marketing thermomix things? They were like 2 grand at the time. They have imitators now for much less, they were pretty good, but so fucking woo it was like a wannabee yoga gurus must get object in 2012 or something.
Have you seen come dine with me UK? It's camp and bitchy and the food is ok. Watching soccer was worth connecting the aerial for, sbs food is worth keeping it connected imo.
Someone needs to open a business called The LaundroCat which combines a laundry and cat cafe. Have a coffee and cuddle a cat while you wait for your laundry to be done. There is a lot of potential for extra sales in the cafe as no one would be able to leave because the cats would immediately sit on the freshly washed clothes.
Hu-fucking-zzah! For anyone following my utterly tedious work sitcho, it is finally SIGNIFICANTLY better after some feet were solidly put down at today's meeting. I have time frames! And $ figures! And direction! And managed to tell our overbearing yet thoroughly incompetent admin/"HR" to (a) stop patronising me (not in those words) and (b) that her particular processes might be protecting the business, but if she was so genuinely concerned about my well being then her officious way of doing things and dragging them out 1000% didn't help (almost in those words).
Definitely much better work life balance coming up, I CAN LET GO OF MY OLD PROJECTS FUCK YES, and I can genuinely taste the freedom to finally start moving on, whether it be here or elsewhere. Now, if only my rent wasn't so high - but at least it won't change until next April. Feeling p good right now. I'm much happier with the uncertainty (atm) of the next chapter vs the dread of staying on.

bought a little 12" ooni fyra the other day and gave it a kick in the guts last night. pumped out a margherita and a pepperoni pie. each pie took a little over a minute to cook.
i think i focused a little too much on getting a high temp, something difficult to do with my other pizza cooking options. first one came out with a bottom that was burnt evenly across the whole bottom (though the carbon layer was very thin), the second one i dropped the temp of the stone about 50c and it came out much better, but i probably need to drop it a little more, and let the pies cook for a little longer. the dough was fully cooked, but some of the toppings (like buffalo mozzarella chunks) didn't have time to melt fully. the pepperoni did cup though.
i think i also need to blend my pizza sauce (usually i like it chunky) but on a small 12" pie cooked super fast it can lead to a bit of unevenness, and makes it harder to get the sauce much closer to the edges which i also need to do (with the cheese too), as large rising edge crust caused the ingredients to shift towards the middle.
after 2 pies we were full (puppers also got a slice each, and the cats got some pepperoni), but i reckon next weekend i will do much better. still, they were fucking delicious and pretty damned good for a first poke. apologies for unappealing torch-lit pizza pic, gets dark early these atm.
the machine itself is pretty easy to operate, just runs on hardwood pellets, though it can only store about 15 mins of pellets at a time, so you need to keep topping it up. getting pizzas into and out of the small aperture is pretty easy too. seems like a pretty good contraption, and i reckon it wont be long before i have a technique down to pump out ripper pizzas.
I love it and would use it at least twice a week for all manner of cooking. Not just pizza pies and naan. Tandoori chicken and lamb kebabs here I come 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
the amount of alliums i give to the cats and dogs (who are sensitive to it too) is negligible and always cooked well which breaks down quite a lot of the thiosulfate within, but i do appreciate the warning, some pet owners might not know.
my spicy puppies love to growl at me in the morning, and leap about on the bed like lunatics while play wrestling. one is about 30kg, the other about 40kg. sometimes it hurts, but generally i love it.

He lost me before he went full cooker - he disappeared up his own arse and became neither interesting nor amusing.
That one, however, made me laugh just as hard as when I first saw it - good grief, it would have been in the eighties.
Oh dear. Reminds me of the time I visited my parents with my old dog, and she brought us the body of one of their chickens she had just dug up. After being buried for about a week it was definitely not in good condition, but she was so incredibly proud of herself. I told her she was a good dog, swapped it for a dog treat and the chicken was re-buried in a less accessible place.
We had a big party at one of my old share houses, so there were a few dogs. We'd buried a dead possum a week before but I can't remember it's fate. Probably road kill knowing that place. We had a giant backyard as our place backed onto council land and a creek. Dogs dug it and fought with it for a while well before anyone noticed. It was in a lot of places by that time and of course, the dogs stank. I may have been on halucinogens too, so it was yucky but fucking hilarious.
Phones were dying so I decided to nip home from the hospital, only once I get back the nurse tells me I'm not allowed back in until 7am even though I literally left for 15 minutes... The poor housemates alone in hospital now and I feel like the biggest tit for leaving them there. Last time I went, I swear they let people in and out pretty frequently for the short stay ward because it's one of the weird in between places of the hospital.
I have spent all day looking through housing design magazines and have come to a few conclusions.
There area a lot more people who can afford really big windows then there are truly interesting or innovative designs.
All houses look better if photographed with a dog or cat visible.
Some people have an unfathomably high tolerance for multiple clashing patterns and colours.
Some people have an unfathomably high tolerance for a complete absence of colour or pattern.
The design feature I like most is the ability to see outside to a garden. Big windows are good for this, but tall windows or multiple windows at different heights works well too.
After looking through too many designs they all start to blur together. It is apparently possible to overdose on housing magazines.
Be careful which direction big windows face. If they get the afternoon sun in summer it becomes more difficult and expensive to keep your house a comfortable temperature
The house I grew up in had northwest facing windows, I'm still scarred by the memories of furnace-like conditions over summer. It's probably a large part of my interest in sustainable design, I know how terrible badly designed houses can be!
Same. Some of them would be fine if just built the other way around… but gotta squeeze as many as possible into a lot, sun direction be damned. The people who profit aren’t the ones who have to live with it 🙃
This was the 80's in a new suburb - the relevant factors in siting the house was which way was facing the street. The main priority behing the design in general was many rooms you could pack in for the lowest cost possible. I don't think we've improved a lot since then, but at least insulation has become standard, not an add on sold by a dodgy door to door salesman.
I don't know what it is, but like man I hate going to work. I would rather be home.
But once I get to work I get into the grove of things and enjoy my time. Of course once it's 5pm I am off the clock, but it's just kind of weird.
Could help that I can listen to podcasts and such. At the moment I'm trying to get up to date with Critical Role (and by up to date I mean, I have 48 episodes to go).
The person I was going to mentor today is away, so if it is not busy I have unexpected bonus time I will be able to study. Which right now means looking through lots of pictures of houses so is pretty fun. Monday's turning out to be not so bad after all.
Recently had to call PTV as well and it was pretty much exactly the same as your experience minus the coughing. But plus a narration of every single step that was taking place (not that bad rly).
Had a great meeting at work with my manager. He's down from WA so we don't get much face to face time.
Feeling better about my job, a lot of stress just melted away.
Sometimes confronting people about things is the best bet.

If you cook it until it's about 85% cooked, then finish the cooking in a gently simmering sauce, you should indeed have sauce up your tube.. er, so to speak. Sauce source: me, who makes bucatini for work every so often. It's actually my favourite long pasta, but not everyone likes the same things :)
I am so sorry but I can't understand how anyone enjoys the mouth feel of tubular pasta?? It feels too thick and chewy even cooked al dente. Like, good forbid i say it, tinned spaghetti.
The womens football bandwagoner in me is a little obsessed with Mackenzie Arnold, but also obsessed with finding out about all the players and all the teams. My intention is to purchase season subscriptions for the Melbourne womens teams and eventually learn more about AFLW (Maybe). So that I can turn my bandwagon jumping into something more than just that and I have my ADHD hyper-fixation abilities to help me truly get into it all. haha.
Yeah, that's what I saw today, memberships for Victory and City are pretty cheap, I'll just have to wait until my next payday and get memberships. lol.
Had one of those I wasn't even supposed to be here today kind of mornings. I don't normally work Mondays. One colleague told me they were running late, but were actually at a different workplace. Poor other colleague was late because he got bailed up for money by some junkies in the city. I'm not sure if he was hurt as he has only been in Australia a couple of months so there's a language barrier, but he was shaken up pretty bad. I'll meet him at his city landing point next time we work together to see where he's walking, he may very easily be able to avoid the scummy parts of the city like I do. But yeah, standing around in one of our windy laneways for 45 minutes with an almost dead phone gave me a case of the Mondays.
So no update on the car. Wonder what happens if they cant fix it? I guess I'd have to tell them to buy it off me. its 8 years old with 140k km on it, it cant just die. Grappling with the ethics of IF they fix it, how do I sell it? I looked into just selling it direct to car sales, they only offered me 13k, and I paid 19.5k for it at the start of the year. Feel a bit dodge selling it privately knowing its issues.
Oh no, its not a reliability issue. There is NO reliability. The thing is fucked. I just gotta get it running well enough to sell it. Trouble is selling a 18-19k car for only 13k is a difficult pill to swallow. Least of all for the bank who still have a 15k claim to the car.
I like late night showers. But I should stop going through my bookmarks and getting rid of things I've already bought or are sold out/not found. But I'm very tempted to spend $97.50 on a journal/diary, but I'm scared to spend that much money. But I miss having a physical journal, I used to bullet journal a lot but decided to go digital post-2020 and yeah I wasted money because I hardly used it. Might have to think about it whether I need a journal or an SSD card.
Edit: Ooo I could AfterPay it... it seems to be a very popular planner, so I don't want it sold out. Decisions decisions.
That is a lot of money for a very small journal. That can only be used for one year.
I find I can't do things like journaling if it is an expensive book, I feel like I need to make my words important and meaningfull to match, I can't just put down feelings and ideas as they flow. For me, cheap books or recycled paper are the go to. And depending on what it is I like to use pencil because I know I can change things so I'm not scared to start and do it wrong. Trying to use expensive fancy stationery is like playing dress-ups as a fantasy self I imagine myself to be, and is the antithesis of the sort of self-reflection and openness effective journalling really needs.
If you do decide you want to buy it though there is a 10% discount if you sign up for their newletter (down the bottom of the page if it doesn't come up in a pop-up for you) so that helps a little bit.
That is understandable. But I've kept past journals that I'll sometimes look through. But I totally understand about the whole "expensive fancy stationery feeling like dress up".
I've bought from this place before when I was really into the studyblr/studygram communities (study + Tumblr and study + Instagram). But since 2020 I haven't needed to buy stuff from there anymore. Now that I have an important job and digital journals aren't just cutting it, I might have to look at investing in a journal.
Maybe I'll give it a week to see if I'm still interested in it or if it's just a hyperfixation (could be both lbr).
Also my week has officially started - Book Week - so tomorrow should I dress up as Scarface claw (Black cat) or Minnie Mouse? On Wednesday I'll be a pirate, on Thursday (If I end up making it) I'll be Dick the Delightful Duck. or a Witch if I don't.
I saw a heavy discounted ‘learn to draw manga’ kit and while the instruction book and tools are probably dreck (plus I don’t really want to draw a cutesy anime/manga style at my age) it comes with a carry case that can fit a sketchbook, plus a curved ruler, markers, sharpener and a few fineliners.
It doesn’t matter if the fineliners are crap as they’d quickly become worn from drawing exercises and be replaced. Perhaps even just the few items I’d want (storage case, curved ruler, fineliners) would work out cheaper than buying them individually. I’m not a fan if the carry case is cardboard though.
The portable easel boxes don’t look like they have a lot of space and the wooden storage boxes are more costly and quite bulky.
I know my issue is that I'm watching YouTube Shorts. But like, it is WILD that I can get slime shorts, funny shots from like British panel shows, maybe the odd gaming video. And then straight up Margeret Thatcher "DESTROYING LEFTIST IDEOLOGY!" and then a cute cat. But I guess that's the Internet but it's just... wild, absolutely wild.

Pepperoni isn't great for cats though, too much salt and fat, plus any garlic involved can be toxic. Our kitties love a bit of pizza cheese :)

i'm not even sure there is garlic in this pepperoni. the ingredients list "spices" and "vegetable powders" but nothing clearly listed as an allium.

Oh dear. Reminds me of the time I visited my parents with my old dog, and she brought us the body of one of their chickens she had just dug up. After being buried for about a week it was definitely not in good condition, but she was so incredibly proud of herself. I told her she was a good dog, swapped it for a dog treat and the chicken was re-buried in a less accessible place.

We had a big party at one of my old share houses, so there were a few dogs. We'd buried a dead possum a week before but I can't remember it's fate. Probably road kill knowing that place. We had a giant backyard as our place backed onto council land and a creek. Dogs dug it and fought with it for a while well before anyone noticed. It was in a lot of places by that time and of course, the dogs stank. I may have been on halucinogens too, so it was yucky but fucking hilarious.

Phones were dying so I decided to nip home from the hospital, only once I get back the nurse tells me I'm not allowed back in until 7am even though I literally left for 15 minutes... The poor housemates alone in hospital now and I feel like the biggest tit for leaving them there. Last time I went, I swear they let people in and out pretty frequently for the short stay ward because it's one of the weird in between places of the hospital.

Be careful which direction big windows face. If they get the afternoon sun in summer it becomes more difficult and expensive to keep your house a comfortable temperature

The house I grew up in had northwest facing windows, I'm still scarred by the memories of furnace-like conditions over summer. It's probably a large part of my interest in sustainable design, I know how terrible badly designed houses can be!

This was the 80's in a new suburb - the relevant factors in siting the house was which way was facing the street. The main priority behing the design in general was many rooms you could pack in for the lowest cost possible. I don't think we've improved a lot since then, but at least insulation has become standard, not an add on sold by a dodgy door to door salesman.

I don't know what it is, but like man I hate going to work. I would rather be home.
But once I get to work I get into the grove of things and enjoy my time. Of course once it's 5pm I am off the clock, but it's just kind of weird.
Could help that I can listen to podcasts and such. At the moment I'm trying to get up to date with Critical Role (and by up to date I mean, I have 48 episodes to go).

If you cook it until it's about 85% cooked, then finish the cooking in a gently simmering sauce, you should indeed have sauce up your tube.. er, so to speak. Sauce source: me, who makes bucatini for work every so often. It's actually my favourite long pasta, but not everyone likes the same things :)

I used like trying to suck up air through tubular speghetti. Especially if there was soup but it couldn’t really be done.
My brother used to tell me that tubular speghetti gave him stomach aches, despite being able to eat thick and thin speghetti of all sorts.
Felt like one big lie since they’re pretty much all the same.

Had one of those I wasn't even supposed to be here today kind of mornings. I don't normally work Mondays. One colleague told me they were running late, but were actually at a different workplace. Poor other colleague was late because he got bailed up for money by some junkies in the city. I'm not sure if he was hurt as he has only been in Australia a couple of months so there's a language barrier, but he was shaken up pretty bad. I'll meet him at his city landing point next time we work together to see where he's walking, he may very easily be able to avoid the scummy parts of the city like I do. But yeah, standing around in one of our windy laneways for 45 minutes with an almost dead phone gave me a case of the Mondays.

So no update on the car. Wonder what happens if they cant fix it? I guess I'd have to tell them to buy it off me. its 8 years old with 140k km on it, it cant just die. Grappling with the ethics of IF they fix it, how do I sell it? I looked into just selling it direct to car sales, they only offered me 13k, and I paid 19.5k for it at the start of the year. Feel a bit dodge selling it privately knowing its issues.

Whoops, it's 12:42am and I have yet to shower.
I like late night showers. But I should stop going through my bookmarks and getting rid of things I've already bought or are sold out/not found. But I'm very tempted to spend $97.50 on a journal/diary, but I'm scared to spend that much money. But I miss having a physical journal, I used to bullet journal a lot but decided to go digital post-2020 and yeah I wasted money because I hardly used it. Might have to think about it whether I need a journal or an SSD card.
Edit: Ooo I could AfterPay it... it seems to be a very popular planner, so I don't want it sold out. Decisions decisions.

That is a lot of money for a very small journal. That can only be used for one year.
I find I can't do things like journaling if it is an expensive book, I feel like I need to make my words important and meaningfull to match, I can't just put down feelings and ideas as they flow. For me, cheap books or recycled paper are the go to. And depending on what it is I like to use pencil because I know I can change things so I'm not scared to start and do it wrong. Trying to use expensive fancy stationery is like playing dress-ups as a fantasy self I imagine myself to be, and is the antithesis of the sort of self-reflection and openness effective journalling really needs.
If you do decide you want to buy it though there is a 10% discount if you sign up for their newletter (down the bottom of the page if it doesn't come up in a pop-up for you) so that helps a little bit.

I've bought from this place before when I was really into the studyblr/studygram communities (study + Tumblr and study + Instagram). But since 2020 I haven't needed to buy stuff from there anymore. Now that I have an important job and digital journals aren't just cutting it, I might have to look at investing in a journal.
Maybe I'll give it a week to see if I'm still interested in it or if it's just a hyperfixation (could be both lbr).

I saw a heavy discounted ‘learn to draw manga’ kit and while the instruction book and tools are probably dreck (plus I don’t really want to draw a cutesy anime/manga style at my age) it comes with a carry case that can fit a sketchbook, plus a curved ruler, markers, sharpener and a few fineliners.
It doesn’t matter if the fineliners are crap as they’d quickly become worn from drawing exercises and be replaced. Perhaps even just the few items I’d want (storage case, curved ruler, fineliners) would work out cheaper than buying them individually. I’m not a fan if the carry case is cardboard though.
The portable easel boxes don’t look like they have a lot of space and the wooden storage boxes are more costly and quite bulky.
