https://discuss.tchncs.de/ being slow

It started a few days ago that using the https://discuss.tchncs.de/ website (through the browser, default UI) is slow. It typically takes a few (maybe 5) seconds to load the front page, and often when opening a post, it takes another 5 seconds to load.

Writing comments and upvoting seems snappy fast though, so i suspect it has more to do with the UI and not the API.

There was a post a few days ago and its only gotten worse since then. 90% of the time when i try to load a post it just waits for a minute and then 504 times out.

For me its also mostly when accessing it through the web app and not when accessing it through Thunder on android.

Similar here. There are times when all attempts to open posts end in 504 errors.
Then after a few minutes it works again normally for a while.

i try to investigate but its a bit tricky - could you confirm that this does not happen in apps? from my tests it looks like its actually a problem with the lemmy-ui itself. not lemmy or another component, as when moments where i cannot curl the ui on server level, i still can curl the lemmy server for example

i sadly struggle gathering helpful logs but i am confident the cause will be found

not OP, but for me it's indeed the case that the web version is slow (especially in the last 1-2 days), but works without any trouble in apps (Voyager in my case)

unfortunately i don't have any apps.

it could also be my internet (as i'm permanently on a mobile hotspot and that tends to be flaky) but it's more likely the https://discuss.tchncs.de/ website. Ironically, https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/ seems to have the same problem for me. Other websites work fine though, so it's not only on my part.

I've been getting a lot of 504 timeouts when opening posts.

Yes, I have been having trouble too over the last few days. Often I get "gateway timeout" errors and then it doesn't load at all. Right now it is (obviously) working though.
