My condolences to you and your wife on the loss of such a cute lil guy. I'm sure you both bettered each other's lives all the days you were together, and if there is another life of some sort I hope you meet again.
My stepdad was allergic to cats. But my mom got a cat anyway. He wanted nothing to do with this cat. We discovered [confirmed] he was not allergic to cats and that this cat would become his bestest friend.
Cats may come in via one person and adopt another. It is their way

That is a very old cat and I can only assume he has had a very good life.
