Any SMS app with encryption capability?

I saw that on fdroid there's Deku sms anyone have tried it?

The protocol itself doesn't support e2ee. How would an app change that?

By encrypting the message before sending it, same way we use pgp over email woulb be my guess (obviously the other person would need to have the same app for it to work)

the idea behind the project seems cool but last update is over 2 years ago. An encripted keyboard will be the only solution agaist casm UE law
