4! Don't change anything about it, just get it on PC.

markz@suppo.fi · 1 pts · 319d

People not already familiar with the series would be very confused.

Jesus fucking Christ. Can you imagine what would happen if they announced an original Metal Gear remake, made trailers, hyped it up, got Kojima to talk about it after coming back to help a bit even.

But then they pull some Phantom Pain shit, and after launch turns out it's actually Metal Gear 6 directed by Kojima.

Please. Someone who knows Kojima tell him. I want to believe.

RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 319d (1 reply)

I wouldn't mind a finished MTG V, personlly.

EightBitBlood@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 319d

Same. And Actually. That would be an even funnier reveal. Not MGS6, but rather it's MGS5 part 2. Haha

BroBot9000@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 320d (1 reply)

Konami can go fuck themselfs if they think I give a shit after their Silent Hill bullshit.

Your last drop of goodwill is gone, you corporate fucksticks. Remakes of MGS is all you can wish to produce you empty husks leeching off the creation of others.

Dagnet@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 320d

Fuck Konami. They are just trying to milk the metal gear franchise dry

mintiefresh@piefed.ca · 11 pts · 320d (2 replies)

I would love to see Metal Gear Solid remade. It's still my favorite of the series.

Thassodar@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 319d (1 reply)

I love Peace Walker on the PSP, and since it's a direct tie to MGS 5 and is fully done I'd say it's a no-brainer. May even be easier than the MGS 3 to Delta transition.

nuggie_ss@lemmings.world · -2 pts · 318d

Peace walker was the beginning of the end.

Not sure why they decided to neuter CQC.

RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 319d

Metal Gear Solid 5, with the rest of the story, please.

vrighter@discuss.tchncs.de · 8 pts · 319d (7 replies)

I don't want anything remade. Make new stuff for fuck's sake! We got more remakes, remasters and reboots than original games this generation. I still have those games. I can still play them

ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 319d (2 replies)

It sucks for people that have played them but it’s for kids that were too young to have.

vrighter@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 318d (1 reply)

the games are still available. There are no kids too young to have them. Because the games still exist

ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 318d

Usually out of print and same with the platforms.

nuggie_ss@lemmings.world · -2 pts · 318d (3 replies)

Remaking MG1 and 2 would be practically new.

vrighter@discuss.tchncs.de · -1 pts · 318d (2 replies)

how? by adding more twists to the already extremely convoluted (not saying that means bad) story? What elso besides graphics?

nuggie_ss@lemmings.world · -2 pts · 318d (1 reply)

How about an over-the-shoulder perspective, for one?

There's no reason why it can't have an in-depth CQC system as well.

Voice acting, cutscenes, I feel like you're not even trying to understand when you reduce the possibility of a remake to just story and graphics.

You should also keep in mind that most people haven't played MG1 and 2 because they're so dated. This isn't due to being unable to play, since they're available for free on emulators. People haven't played or beaten them because they weren't made to the standard of the good Metal Gear Solid games.

vrighter@discuss.tchncs.de · -1 pts · 318d

in that case that's a completely different game, and an insult to the original to call it the same. They just get to keep the same story and cash in on nostalgia, but it wouldn't be mgs.

I feel the same about the resident evil remakes. They're not bad, but they're not resident evil if you change literally everything in the game except the story.

If you're making a new, completely different game, I'd like a new story to go with it. Why is that so much to ask?

Harvey656@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 320d

Modern metal gear and metal 2 remakes... yes! Without Kojima? NO!

JUST MAKE MGS4 FOR PC PLEAASE I BEG YOU

markz@suppo.fi · 5 pts · 320d

MG1 or MGS1 are the obvious choices. I guess PW might work too to continue from MGS Triangle.

callouscomic@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 320d

Metal Gear Rising: Eggs

You know what the game is about....

gnawmon@ttrpg.network · 4 pts · 319d

MGS 1/2/4 remake sounds great, but what's the point when cutscenes and levels are 1:1 with the original and the game has the limitations of 3 gaming generations ago?

i think they're just scared to do any changes without kojima.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 3 pts · 319d

I'll just wait for Physint, thank you.

rozodru@piefed.social · 2 pts · 320d

do the PSP one. man I miss that handheld.

thingsiplay@beehaw.org · 1 pts · 320d
  1. High priority: Remake Metal Gear Solid from the first Playstation. Do not take The Twin Snakes as the base!
  2. Remake the original Metal Gear games from the 8-bit MSX systems, where the series roots are and started it all.

Snake's Revenge

devolution@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 318d

How about the original two. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2?

nuggie_ss@lemmings.world · -1 pts · 318d

I'd only be interested in remakes of MG1 and 2, maybe ac!d if the stories are actually interesting (and they're remade like actual Metal Gear Solid games).

Unfortunately, looking at these comments I think I know what konami will do. They'll remake MGS1 because it will be "hype" and everyone will buy it out of loyalty to their gamer status, but it will essentially hit as hard as the Oblivion "remake."

Let's get something new, guys. We don't have to replay the same damn game over and over and over.
