Why does Voyager's share button now take you to a download link for the app instead of direct to the post?

This is not appreciated behaviour, or behaviour I expect from FOSS apps.

It's a toggle setting. I like it, it offers a standardized view of the destination while inviting the recipient to join and engage in the threadiverse.

Is it a new setting? I haven't changed anything in my settings and this was not the previous behaviour. Weird. Thanks for letting me know so I can change it back.

Settings - General - Other - Share Links

Was introduced quite a while ago as an opt-in setting. Seems it's opt-out now.

oh those settings are excellent. I prefer to share the community link because pretty much anybody I share to has no idea what Lemmy is anyway and it's confusing to see one instance from another

Yeah this is annoying because I like to share the link to a post instead of just an image so people can get used to Lemmy but with the veger link the posts don't unfurl so it just looks like a weird link.

Glad its a choice though so people can choose what they want

I had to change it back to the old way case they don’t embed on discord. They just put a tiny thumbnail and no content.

Simply switched it to ‘local instance’ instead. Kinda shitty thing to switch it by default.
