Nah, when the same sentence has other Chinese people being played by a blue/grey cartoon character it's pretty clearly just targeting one person for being a chubby authoritarian doofus. Casual racism against Chinese people just because they're currently stuck with a shitty government is a problem, but I know I'm not doing that here.
The BBC reporting like "netizens in China may soon find posts hidden when sharing content like "life is pointless and we should all kill ourselves" " and people in this thread read that as "the CEECEEPEE is Banning people for being SAD", yep cool, the usual then?
and here I'm banned from a significant portion of lemmy.world for telling people to not post racist and misogynist bullshit
I'm especially glad how this government campaign focuses on a clearly defined terminology that differentiates between trolly doom posting and affected people in a bad situation just expressing themselves online. It's great how they don't just use subjective terms like "negative content" or "sensationalized" or "trivial" , and then straight punish platforms for posts fitting these very wide terms. Cause you know, platforms definitely won't be overly careful with what they allow, when there's a threat of actual punishment. This is definitely a well thought out campaign, that's well thought out to take care of some unfortunate citizens.
