Why do our away missions always end up in caves?

When they get hungry, they need to make sure they are ready to drop two rocks in quick succession.

Why are we not equipping astronauts with bike tire pumps on the off chance they encounter hostile aliens? They would have no way of defending themselves with the stuff they give them now!
