So we've had fully functional jetpacks for fifty years and yet they aren't in common enough use to replace cars? Boo.

It's fuel that's the problem. To carry enough fuel to get anywhere significant would weigh you down too much. Plus, imagine how stupid people already are when they drive, now imagine them being able to fly anywhere, anytime. It'd be a disaster.

As far as I know, they're extremely dangerous and hard to use correctly. Look at those water cannon ones and how easily it is to shoot down into the water.
