What are you doing to get ready for winter?

I'm eating like those bears in Alaska. Although tbh, I don't particularly need to.

Hoping I actually get a winter, it's still 22°C daytime and it's October ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Gently rocking in the corner with my head in my hands… sobbing angrily, furious that bears just get to sleep through this shit.

Magnesium and vitamin D supplements. Gotta lay the ground work early while I still have energy.

Moving back to the southern hemisphere so I can just avoid it

Made an appointment to get my winter tires on my car. I used to do it myself in the past, but after upgrading to a car with 235/55R19XL I decided to pay someone with a proper car lift an pneumatic drill to do it for me. They're a lot heavier than the 195/55/15 I've been using from 2005 to this spring.

Oh, and I closed the attic windows. Shovelling snow outside is miserable enough.

Well, once it actual starts to hit freezing temperatures, fling a snow brush in my cars back seat and by my front door, and put my shovel out.

I brought out out the electric blanket, heavy sheets, and supplementary propane heater. A nice thing about DC 12v blankets is you can leave them plugged relatively safely in and they dont shut off after 8 hours.

I try to keep the propane usage down so as it gets colder I adapt by layering up with thermies, gloves, heavy jackets as it gets colder in the night. When in winter mode I can comfortably lounge in about 55f. If it gets lower than 55f I turn on the propane heat. However coming out of summer I can't even endure 60f without feeling cold it takes time to adapt.

I recently heard about hot tables essentially draping table with heavy blankets and having a heat source underneath so the hot air gets trapped and you put your legs/body underneath, sounds like a good project for winterizing my table. My other DC electric blanket has a broken outlet I may repair it so my chair is heated.
