Snapchat adds a dark mode on Android. Catch is, you have to pay for Snapchat+ to enable it.

I'm sorry but as a person who's developed apps in Android in the past, I can tell you that making dark theme for apps should NOT be a paid feature whatsoever. This is purely and utterly ridiculous and clearly shows how corrupt Snapchat Inc. is. This is a basic feature that's been around in Android apps for a while now but they wanna act like it's the next big thing? Fuck off.

It's not a secret that Snapchat's CEO was a massive Apple fanboy and regularly dunked on Android. It shows in how each platform's app utilizes their respective resources (i.e. the Android version taking a fucking screenshot despite the camera2 API being readily available).

Considering the poor treatment of Android users. I would leave 1 star reviews and delete the app for good.

Never forget Snapchat would previously send snaps from android phones by accessing the view finder and take a screenshot of the screen before sending (ie not using the actual camera).

This news does not surprise me in the slightest.

Maybe the Revanced developers can overcome this. A quick search shows it is an open feature request.
