Poland’s birth rate is in freefall. The cause? A loneliness epidemic that state cash can’t solve

When parents no longer serve as role models, stepping into parenthood yourself becomes an act of improvisation.

I don't know about Poland, but in my American experience that's actually better. Older generations bullied and beat their children, and believed that was good child-rearing - the legacy of which lives on in today's political right-wing's collection of bullies and their sycophants.

Another similar line stuck out to me.

For many of my friends, adulthood meant not learning from parents but explaining the world to them.

Yeah, that one hit me, too, but I don't see it as similar. I think it was very spot-on considering the insane rate of change prevalent today. In my roughly five decades of life, I've watched things go from a relatively leisurely pace to what we have today where learned skills are frequently outdated within just a few years. It's felt much like watching a boulder grow and accelerate ever faster as it rolls downhill, demolishing everyone & everything in its way.

You’re right, the only real similarity is change itself, as you said. That’s all I was thinking about in that moment.
Thanks for sharing your perspective, it really added to the article for me.

Okay but what if instead Poland gave money to me?

Pros: I would have more money and not be poor

Cons: Probably sill not going to allow my bloodline continue

Pay me and I'll move to Poland to help solve the problem.

The previous (and possibly current) govt was bribing the pension generation with 13 payments a year instead of 12.
