AI training to what end? So they can shove more targeted ads disguised as private messages in our faces for us to continue to delete immediately? What’s the ROI on that?
I opted out by deleting my account a couple of months ago. Had major FOMO for a long time - it was the only major Big Tech account I still had which I clung to as I convinced myself that I would need it in the future and any career prospects would be bleak without it. Now I am not convinced I have ever gotten any benefit from it at all in my work so far.
I opted out when it was announced - I think someone posted in Lemmy...
Now I see that it's for Microsoft too, then maybe I'll setup another LI account, keep the options enabled , but just not post or read anything with that account... then the AI would realise it's all pointless and go do something better instead

Training to better mimic corpospeak in that ecosystem, is my guess.

It's easy to deactivate:
gear menu for settings
data protection
search for something something AI
disable the setting

It's funny how people have no problem using AI, trained with protected content, but refuse to offer their material for training 🤣
Additionally, at this rate, only idiots will share their view. This is going to increase the bias of AIs...
