They still use a straight up climbing strap? We still mostly climb manually still but have a full on harness with 2 layers of fall arrest strapping and the ladder is strapped to the pole so you can't fall off that either.

Cable guys used em too. Can still remember how they smelled from hugging my dad when he'd get home from work as a kid. Leathery and sweaty lmaoo
