Unless you buy a plot of land in a forested area, it's not yours, so you can be evicted at any time.

Or you will need to see a dentist or doctor at some point.

I had that kind of thought multiple times and it's so tempting until you think about the details.

I've thought about the details and it's still very tempting.

I live in a forest. There is mouse poop in my basement and probably always will be despite cats and traps. The mosquitoes often make being outside impossible. Going out to dinner is a minimum 30 minutes drive to a small town

Dude we already want to go, no need to keep selling it.

I'm such a Subaru fan boy, I had to say something about your name. 👍

WR5@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 303d (1 reply)

I'm not sure what that means, but pleased to meet you 🤩

YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 303d

It apparently doesn't mean anything and I am profoundly dumb. But pleased to meet you as well!

Edit: for the curious,I was thinking about the iconic rally car the WRC. Turns out for years I've been referring to it incorrectly as the WR5.

I live in the suburbs. There's dozens of options to go out to dinner within a 20 minute drive of me.

I haven't been out to dinner in years. Can't afford it. Rent's too high.

There's really nothing stopping anyone from doing this if they want to. But we are all too comfortable.

Just like there's nothing stopping people from buying a house together and having a community garden and participating in true socialism. But no one does that.

Minor /s. However, there is some truth it in. We can decry capitalism all we want, but humans are selfish assholes and the individualistic western ideals are what we have now.

HalfBakedChef@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 303d

That's not really true homie. How am I to participate in true communism when I must buy the property, then continue on being charged by private utilities, all while being governed by a government that actively punishes communist thought?

Yes, but where will you park tomorrow 🥲

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 303d (1 reply)

probably a Walmart.

YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 303d

Walmart‽ When there's a perfectly good river.

Kintarian@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 303d

Forest Service or BLM land out in the boonies. Free, dispersed camping anywhere for 14 days.

Ramblingman@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 303d (1 reply)

How was it? I am pretty introverted but realistically going without human contact for an extended period sounds difficult.

Kintarian@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 303d

I’ve been on the road for five years now. I really like it most of the time. There are struggles like vehicles breaking down, bad weather, finding a place to camp. I am a loner so being alone doesn’t seem to bother me. I’m sure you can find human contact when you need it. There are a lot of humans around.

New roomie troubles?

Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 303d (2 replies)

I was supposed to have a new dude move in, a relative of my sisters friend. That friend then turned around today telling me not to let him in because he's apparently gotten a drug problem and has been fucking the family over. So that was fun to find out last of the month.

swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 303d (1 reply)

Damn bro, that sucks! Well maybe you've gotten all the bad luck outta the way and you'll have a better time with your next roommate prospect 😅

Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 303d

Here's fucking hoping... Also check your damn discord once in a while

Edit: He did.

bitjunkie@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 303d

Seasonal job as a cook. Go to AK

heyWhatsay@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 303d

I lived in the woods, lots of people in most forests. But there are still plenty of remote places, just find a source of water and food before you settle. Technically owning land is more secure, but if you find a place to squat, some states allow you to acquire the land by paying the taxes.

oyo@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 303d

If I moved to the forest I would want to bring most of my shit. Maybe you're buying the wrong shit.
