My cat loves being held (he will come beg to be picked up and will throw a tantrum if I refuse) and he likes me to hold him similar to how you would hold a baby you would be trying to burp. I scoop him up so he is facing my torso with his head at my chin level, front paws on my shoulder, and one of my arms is under his butt and back legs supporting them in a sitting position and my other arm is free to either pet him or wrap around his back and hug him. He loves being hugged tight or snuggled and pet.
My other cat doesn't like being held nearly as much, but I've found that this is also the position that she's happiest in. She feels physically supported and also still has autonomy to look around and move and can easily signal to me when she wants down.
I love wearing thick framed ugly as fuck glasses (they're ugly, I'm ugly, we match). I hate that I just bought new glasses and I deliberately got thinner, clear frames just because I don't want there to be any chance someone could think I'm wearing these dumb things.
Thanks for the assistance! I'll have to play with it some more. I had it in the foreground and it definitely wasn't more than 30 minutes between me turning my screen on and looking at it and while I did walk in one big loop I had opened and played it at different times in the loop so it was more like a big L that my screen was off and in my pocket, and it only tracked a small distance of what I actually walked and it seemed to be the times my screen was on.
I've been using this since you posted about it here before, and I love it but have two minor comments/gripes (maybe they were fixed in the new update, if so I apologize).
I wish it tracked my walk with the screen off. I've walked many miles with this app open, but as soon as the screen turns off it stops tracking me (even with the app still open when I turn the screen back on) so according to the app I still haven't completed the achievement for "walk 4 km". I went out for a 5 km walk the other day and had the app open the entire time and it thought I only walked about 0.5 because most of the walk the screen turned off. (I do love the option to lock the screen, but I don't want to leave my phone screen on for an hour long walk and drain the battery)
The controls for brewing potions can be picky. I know it's supposed to be a little challenging, but using the ladle is frustrating as the sensitivity doesn't seem predictable and it tends to not move then suddenly fling across the screen, throwing water everywhere.
Like I said, these aren't major complaints and it's not going to keep me from using the game. Thanks for making such a cool little game that's free and isn't harvesting my data!
I'm well aware of that. I do this for a living. But the AED and CPR still give a much better chance of survival than all the drugs in the world. Statistics don't lie and there's no bringing back someone whose brain has been deprived of oxygen for too long. I mean, you might bring them back to life, but they'll be a vegetable in a nursing home for the rest of their life.
Caveat that it won't shock anyone they don't need to as long as that person isn't conscious or moving...
The AED doesn't shock people who are in asystole (flatline), contrary to popular myth. The point of shocking isn't to start the heart, it's "have you tried shutting it off and turning it back on again?" It shocks 2 rhythms, ventricular tachycardia (a type of very fast heart rate) and ventricular fibrillation (where the bottom part of your heart quivers but doesn't pump). It's possible to be alive and conscious in V tach, you can be pulseless and "dead" with V tach and you won't have a pulse with V fib. So if you apply it to someone conscious, there's a chance they could be in V tach and it will recognize that and shock them, killing them. It can also recognize movement as a shockable rhythm and deliver a shock improperly.
None of this should scare anyone from using an AED! If you have someone who isn't conscious, isn't breathing, and doesn't have a pulse or you don't know how to check for one, you can use an AED! Just don't put one on someone who is awake and having chest pain "just in case" and if you need to move someone that has an AED applied, don't do it while the AED says it is analyzing (you will know, it verbally says so and tells you to stop touching the patient!)
Go learn CPR! It is not hard, and you can save a life. Remember, if someone needs CPR you can't screw it up! They can't get any more dead, but you can make them better!
If I have to choose between going for an AED that is close by and I know the location of and calling for an ambulance, I'm going for the AED. If I can call the ambulance on the way, great, if not, I'll call it after the AED is applied. Even better would be to dial emergency services on speaker while I'm doing CPR and send someone else for the AED.
Every minute your brain goes without oxygen your chances of survival goes down by 10%. CPR is your best chance of survival, and AED is your next best chance. An ambulance can do a lot of things, but even with EMS the best things they can do to improve survival rates are early defibrillation and good CPR, and even with great response times they're probably several minutes out.
Alyx is not my favorite VR game, but I do think it is the best VR game made. It is so immersive that there were many times playing it where I genuinely forgot I was playing a game. My first playthrough I played the entire last half, from exiting the Northern Star all the way through the end, in one hours long session and by the time I took off my headset I felt like I didn't quite know who I was, where I was, or what the F just happened. I felt a little disoriented and off kilter for like 2 days afterwards. 10/10 experience, highly recommend.
Cats are so impatient when it comes to wanting their food, and eternally patient when it comes to waiting for anything else they want. My cat will sit in one spot and wait for hours for me to do something for him (usually after I've said no or not now), but heavens forbid his dinner isn't 45 minutes early, he throws a shit fit.
Forgive me for commenting completely off topic, but I've scrolled past this post in my feed 4 different times today and every time I've read it as "what would you do if you found out you were a Republican?" and started laughing before rereading it correctly.
I'm not even trying to make a political statement, it's just the absurdity of it, it would be just as funny to me if you insert any other political party.
Where I live I literally would not be able to take public transport to get to my current job, or my current school (both an hour drive away in different counties from where I live, public transport doesn't cross county lines). I looked into taking public transport to get to my last school when my car broke down, but it would have been about a 5 hour one way trip involving 3 different buses and a 3 mile walk between one of the bus lines in order to go 16 miles (I couldn't have walked or biked it because it's all major highways and said highway crosses a river with no pedestrian crossing - that's miles out of the way). I got a rental car instead.
I'm not pro-ICE at all. I don't support their actions, and if given the choice would not have sent ICE after him or anyone else.
But if you are an orphan, you advocate for orphans to get tossed in an orphan grinding machine, and then the thugs who run the machine come to throw orphan you in the orphan grinding machine, I can take a moment to smile at the irony while still being horrified by and totally opposed to the existence of orphan grinding machine.
Curious if you're a millennial. I never used to use lol, then everyone I texted was using it and I felt like if I didn't I was coming across as too serious and not friendly so I started using it, then people started to make fun of everyone who used it and say it was a millennial thing and now I'm so self conscious every single time I use it but I can't stop
I can't stand beer or wine (or Coke), but I genuinely enjoy the harsh taste of hard liquor. I stopped drinking over a year ago and have no desire to ever drink alcohol again, but sometimes the craving for the taste hits me so hard and I almost give in until I remember how alcohol makes me feel, both while I'm drinking it and the day after. I really wish I could sit and enjoy a few drinks for the taste without there being any alcohol in it.

I want to be a cat so I can peacefully sleep on someone's desk while they work

Thank you! I hope you're enjoying your retirement! I'm currently an Advanced EMT working my way through that unique hell that is paramedic school :)
