Alright, FOSS fam, what's that one piece of open-source software you absolutely CANNOT live without (and why is it NOT vi/emacs)?

Seriously, I'm talking about the unsung heroes, the daily drivers, the stuff that makes you go 'how did I ever function without this?' For me, it's gotta be Jellyfin. Freed myself from the proprietary shackles and never looked back. But i'm curious, what's your ride-or-die FOSS? Gimme your best, your weirdest, your most indispensable!

I wonder if you're the Owen from Canada I know. Hmm.... Tricky question only Owen would know... Thinking Ahh, screw it. OMH? Also, Proxmox. Try anything with almost no consequences for failure, and if it sticks, leave it to run. Loving Proxmox these days.

I mean, there's only like twelve of us in Canada (if you don't count the moose). So it's probably me.

Ah, but do you love your momma?

I've never attempted matricide, but I do dream of being as attractive as Danny DeVito.

Good news! He and Rhea Perlman split up a while ago, so there's a chance!

Godot. Making small games and participating in game jams is the last creative bastion in my life.

Logseq. This is my memory, my work to do, and the easiest way to track it all.

Librewolf - because it is the portal to what's left of the "real" internet.

It's not vi/emacs, because if I can't complete the task with nano, terminal, and Files; then the question becomes should I even be trying to do this?
-- Bonus software Boxes (though not FOSS virtualbox) -- because a VM sandbox of my current distro and others that I want to play with require emulation. Booting off a live USB isn't the same as being able to bounce back and forth between desktop and a sandbox.

and why is it not vi/emacs?

Because I didn't know someone combined the two? That must be confusing AF to use...

Why are you posting engagement bait on lemmy?
The imaginary internet points here are even more pointless than anywhere else.

They're not pointless! You said yourself they're points!
