My husband grew up (like most red blooded American millennials) obsessed with Ghostbusters as a youngin. He even had a birthday party one year where his mom homemade him and his friends Ghostbuster's jumpsuit costumes complete with proton packs, a ghostbuster cake and everything. (I didn't have the honor of attending/knowing him back then, but I've seen the pictures and they're truly incredible.)
Anyway, it's been a bit of a rough year for everyone, and at some point my husband started playing this song pretty frequently half joking, but also as a kind of reminder/motivation.
At first I just kind of rolled my eyes, but eventually he made it his morning alarm, so it's usually the first thing that we both hear when we wake up in the morning. It eventually wormed its way into my brain, and it's become one of my favorite motivational songs too.
10/10 music, lyrics, nostalgia, and historical background, especially when you take note of all the famous NY cameos in the video. Especially a certain villain nobody could have realized we would one day be battling for the soul of America.
Don't give up. Take control. Even if your enemy wants to claim you're "winning by losing," it's still a W. No matter what happens, you can at least take some comfort in knowing you did what you could for the values others that came before you never gave up on either.
