They save lives, imagine how fast that guy was driving to rip the huge bollard out of the ground, without it he could have ploughed through some pedestrians or smashed through a store front and killed and injured how many people
Agree with bollards saving lives, but this dude wasn't going fast, it didn't even break the fender, just scrapped it as it deflected up and climbed the bollard, pushing it with the car weight. There doesn't even seem to be major damage to the tire/rim and suspension...
This seems like one of those cases where people push the wrong pedal and accelerate instead of breaking?

Depending upon the model, these have anywhere between 480 and 700 Nm of torque. The above response is feasible.

How much you wanna bet they put it in drive instead of reverse?

All sidewalks along roads should be lined with bollards. The busier the road, the bigger the bollards.

Let's put them all over the roads as well. Fuck yo cars.

I would agree, but as usual bollards are, in-fine, infrastructure for cars at the expense of cyclists and pedestrians.
IMO, they should remove the road all together 😄

Bollards: "I'm not asking."

Ok, but I'm impressed on how little damage that car got for ripping that bollard.
although given the car, it'll cost more to repair the car than whatever time he'll get for the damage to the bollard.

Can't park there, mate!

I love bollards because it's nice to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee without fear of someone running you over.

That wasn't a great bollard. It's just a scratch. I want to see frame damage.
Hawke@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 287d
It stopped the car, so it was good enough.

Bollards sounds like the name of a high end clothing store.
