Republicans and the White House face a deadline after refusing to negotiate with Democrats on impending Obamacare premium hikes
Just minutes before Donald Trump was set to unveil a plan to avert a massive hike for Obamacare health plans on Monday afternoon the event was suddenly pulled – reportedly because of widespread Republican unease on the Hill.
On CNN, anchor Jessica Dean was forced to interrupt herself as she asked a question of a health expert to announce some breaking news as it came into her ear – that the event had been abruptly postponed.
Federal subsidies passed under the Biden-era Inflation Reduction Act are set to expire at the end of the calendar year, and many Americans are already receiving notice that the monthly cost of their health care plans could jump by hundreds or even thousands of dollars for larger plans.

Anybody else remember when a couple of less than intelligent Democrats were convinced to vote to reopen the government because Republicans said they'd be willing to "discuss keeping" Obamacare, but at a later date if they voted now to reopen? Where's all that good faith at now, you chumps? Fuck you, Fetterman.

And my Senator Shaheen

Their arguement was that the Republicans would then "own" the increase, which does seem to be playing out that way.
Personally I think folding was a stupid move, but I guess time will tell.

The Republicans would have owned it if they continued doing nothing.

They all planned it together. They were the fall guys.

Yes, keep blaming one Democrat instead of all republicans
camdog2000@ttrpg.network · 16 pts · 271d
Why do you say instead?
Blaming democrats doesn't mean we're absolving republicans.

It's in the scorpion's nature to sting.
That why the frog was the idiot of the story.
madcaesar@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 271d
The frog may be the idiot but the scorpion is still a massive piece of shit.
SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 270d
The point of the story is that the frog is the one with free will and the scorpion is just a violent force of nature
That's why i get upset when the dems use their free will to fuck their electorate.

I will blame anyone who does stupid shit. Remember Krysten Sinema, she was a democrat. There's no Democrats or republicans, it's us or them, the rich and the people who enable the rich. Sure it seems the democrats tend to lean in more of what I want, but if they fuck up we replace them. Non of that hive mind cult bulshit.

Well that didn't take long. Trump is nothing more than Lucy holding the football and we're all Charlie Brown.

I didn't think anyone expected the Republicans to do anything about the subsidies, that's why everyone was upset with democrats capitulated.
