I feel like that's got to be such a satisfying tree to climb as a cat. Claws in the bark, nose in the holes with an exploratory pawtip, and an easy descent if you're not quite the climber you thought you were on the way up.

100%. Especially the holes at the roots I’m gonna go take some pictures for you now.. they love to hide in them.

Not to distract from lovely buffy but those olive trees are just gorgeous. Trees like Olives and oaks fascinate me. I remember being in Portugal and asking a old farmer 'what do you think how old that olive is?' -'Probably around 600-800years'... That tree was standing there, witnessing the reconquista. That's mind-blowing to me.

They are so cool and to think how massive and old they are is crazy. Here’s a picture of the oldest one on the property my grandparents left me.

And here’s a picture of my aunts across from my house.

That first picture is gorgeous. All your pictures are beautiful, but that one is my favourite.

I came here to tell you your cat has good taste in trees, they have so much character.

Whitecat@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 270d

The trees and the cats both have so much character, thank you!

Yeah it's a gamble but those trees are so magnificent.

Sometimes it makes me feel small but in a good way, like - no matter this tree was here way before me and will be here when I'm long gone. It's soothing in a way :)

They are used in olive harvesting. We open them up and lay them flat to catch the olives so we can process the into oil. This along with the branches full of olives we trim off the trees. It’s actually a really cool process last year was my first time doing it with my family around here and it was really awesome to learn made me feel really connected to my roots.

One of mine would have a field day with that tree. He'd probably go right up some of the branches.

The tree reminds me of "Harold" from Fallout 3

Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus · 2 pts · 62d (1 reply)

Harold actually was in 1,2 and tactics too

3 was my first, and I tried 1 and 2 afterwards--but what can I say, it was too difficult!

Whitecat@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 270d

She uses olive wood stakes to kill the ghouls
