I'm not ADHD, at least not diagnosed, but the one that gets me is I'll be coming in from outdoors thinking about the 12 little things I need to do right now (go pee, get tea started, clean dog bowls, put away the cups, fold the blanket, close blinds, and so on) and then next thing I hear is someone calling my name "can you come hold this for me while I ..." and suddenly that list I've meticulously curated and held in my short term memory for the past 10 minutes is just gone and now who knows when I'll get around to checking if I need to put ketchup on the grocery list cause fuck if I'll remember to do it any time soon.
My car has been sitting in the driveway with an electrical issue and hasn't been fixed in a month because I literally don't remember it until I'm laying in bed at night and all shops are closed. Fucking infuriating.
More like I don't want to complete task a that I had to abandon due to needs of business and probably only has 15 minutes of work, so I'll push these other tasks around for the next 2 hours.
My ADHD family and I rush through things and interrupt each other because if we don't were likely to forget something important that just popped into our mind. But by interrupting we made the other one forget what they were talking about.
Living in a world that isn't adapted to my needs can be exhausting, but it's not the reason I rush through things. That's pretty innate to my neurodiversity.
That's absolutely true. If your comment had said "That can be a trauma response that manifests in some NDs lvining in an NT world. It's not always innate." I wouldn't have replied.
There are a depressing number of people who make very absolute claims that all the problems of neurodiversity come from the world not being designed for them. While I understand why it sometimes feels like that, it's absolutely not true for many people with ASD, ADHD, etc.
If it takes 5-10 minutes just do it now. As my cleaning of the stove top took 30mins and shoveling the sidewalk took 20 minutes. The answer is to lie to yourself just to start
I thought today to call a restaurant and book a table for me and my wife. And then I wanted to fix some issue with my service i selfhost. I had time for both. Guess, what I havent done?
::: spoiler Answer:
None. I got distracted by other stuff.

I am un-diagnosed, so take it with a grain of salt (cause I sure do take it with a grain of salt every day)
You just described how earning money works and also what we do to our planet (well, also our economy). It's about exploitation of natural and human resources.
This is why I drive a tiny nimble sports car, so I can push my way past large clusters of drivers going 5-10 MPH under the speed limit (they never seem to be able to maintain their speed), who don't understand that the passing lane is for passing.
I just want to coast down the highway at a comfortable 75 MPH with cruise control on and chill, with nobody tailgating and nothing in front of me but open road, but then other drivers have to show up with their inconsistent driving habits and ruin my fun.
Out of the cities I've driven in, LA has got to be my favorite, cause half of the drivers there are just as impatient as me! Within 30 seconds of hopping on the freeway you'll find some maniac weaving through rush hour traffic at 110 MPH. All you gotta do is follow them in their slipstream and pray that you make it to your destination alive and in one piece... Most fun I've ever had driving in my life! Can't wait to go back.
That'll work great until someone doesn't use their mirrors or blinker. Then, your face is on a projected slideshow above flower wreaths and tear-soaked questions. Winning, for sure.
I have to reach my target every day at work and I'm really struggling. So when I'm hitting my stride oh boy I dont get out of work until my focus runs out

Sounds about right, except I think with ADHD you're probably struggling to hold one or maybe two things in your head.

Lol, yep. I was a little taken aback by that comment. 12 things? 12?! I need to start a physical list if I have more than two things to do.

I had to learn that RAM is limited.. If there is more than a given task saved, it just overflows and looses stuff
My goal is to be more careful about what to keep in RAM and what I save onto my braindumb reminder list

Just go.
Get it done faster.
No time to stop.
This task is my master.

I’ll just check real quick first if clicking the first link in Wikipedia articles really does eventually lead to Philosphy.

It's not innate.

Can someone else please translate your comment into English?
sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 286d
ND = NeuroDivergent
NT = NeuroTypical
Given that you don't know that already, high likelihood you are neurotypical.
I... trust you know what the rest of the words mean.

2 seems to be the magic limit for me too. If I go to the grocery store for 3 or more things, 1 or more things will not be procured.
