[Completed] Lemmy.World hardware maintenance today 13:45-14:45 UTC

Hello World,

we will be replacing a faulty memory module on our server today. As this will require powering down the server, we will also combine this with a few other system maintenance tasks.

Our hosting provider has confirmed their work between 14:00-14:30 UTC, our full maintenance window is 13:45-14:45 UTC to have a little extra buffer and be able to deal with our additional maintenance work.

You can convert this to your local time here: https://inmytime.zone/?iso=2025-12-05T13%3A45%3A00.000Z

Update 12:25 UTC: Hosting provider confirmed the maintenance window

Update 14:20 UTC: Memory module has been replaced and all maintenance work has been completed

Luckily we don't own the server, we just rent it :-)

That's for planned maintenances, a faulty memory module isn't something you want to keep using for long :)

Was that the cause for the occasional freezes I was seeing yesterday loading world posts?

what do you mean?

I still see posts on lemmy.world that haven't gone out to other instances, e.g. https://lemmy.world/post/39794227 (not visible from my instance or others I've tested). Will this sync eventually or is it lost?

edit: also, just curious, is there a way to force a post like this to federate if it didn't initially?
