Personally I don't see the harm in adding a static GPS position for my repeater in the advert. Someone motivated enough could technically triangulate where the node is anyway, so I'll just make it easy to use.

Just because Sony locks you out, it doesn't negate the resale value. And even if Sony kills your account and blacklist your console, there would be nothing stopping you from buying a new PS5 and play it completely offline with a local account. You'd be SOL with digital-only licenses.
What it does is that it moves the license management from a physical thing you own and can trade for, to an account-based digital license that is centrally managed by the platform owners.
What happens when the platform reaches its end of life, or if an account is stolen, has a different outcome based on physical vs digital.
