Looks pretty similar to this case, which was previously discussed in this community here.

Edit: here's this case: https://github.com/unkyulee/steamdeck-enclosure

So its even cooler than I thought!!!

Even if it's 3d printed and probably not too sturdy, that's still way thicker than it needs to be.

Those bezels are thicker than the original Steam Deck even.

Thicker than a pixar mom.

and a bowl of oatmeal. they're thicker than that, too.

A mouse and the ability to charge it in the dock and this would be pretty cool even though its super bulky.

It looks like the USB port may be exposed via that slot on the top?

the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 244d

You could be right, it is quite wide.

I’ve read elsewhere that charging it while enclosed could be bad for it because of high temps, and it has been speculated that its orientation in the default case is such to prevent zipping up to each side of the charging cable.

As far as I can see, this case exposes all the vents.

AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 244d (1 reply)

Do the fans come on during charging if you're not using it?

jonathan@piefed.social · 1 pts · 242d

Not in my experience, but it probably does need passive cooling.

Hello_there@fedia.io · 4 pts · 244d

Case looks overly thick. Reducing it down a bit would give you the space for a mini mouse

Encom@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 244d

There’s a version of the case (not sure if it’s THIS design) that has an extra printable section to fit the pebble mouse

Grass@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 244d

If we're going that thick I'd be inclined to model in hand grips and make the keyboard a hotswap switch mechanical

Congrats you’ve invented a shitty laptop lol
