Décadi 20 Frimaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour d'Hoyau

It's Tabac Tuesday, but on Wednesday. Very nice shave, I should use both the Koraat and Tabac more often.

Have a good day!

Although I don't use Tabac as much as I should, any day is a Tabac Day. And, the combination of Tabac and a Koraat 14-2.0 can't be beat!

Ever since I had a baby morning shaves have gone right out the window. Today was an exception, and it was nice starting the day with my favorite Christmas soap of all time, Christmas Eve.

MERShaving from yesterday hung with me most of the day. I checked out their Etsy page and they've been away since 2024. It's a really nice soap; hopefully, they'll come back.

Adventus Day 5

Today's satchel was filled with Stirling goodies. The lather for today is Stirling Spice in their beef tallow base. Scent strength was a medium with a nice level of Spice.

I also got two bath soap samples (Executive Man and Stirling Gentleman).

Have a good day!

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming - "Blood of Kings" Jefferson B14 28mm Badger
  • Razor: Blackland Sabre
  • Blade: Accuforge GEM Microcoat (3)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! 3 Scots - Soap
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! 3 Scots - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Chanel - Égoïste - EdT

Still learning the Sabre. If I'm not careful this thing certainly bites. Super close shave though, and 3 Scots into Égoïste is a great combination.

  • Brush: Grizzly Bay Shire 26mm V18 Fanchurian
  • Razor: GEM MMOC Gold Gen2
  • Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (4)
  • Lather: The Cajun Blade - Let'er Buck - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
  • Aftershave: The Cajun Blade - Let'er Buck Aftersauce - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I wanted to use the MMOC today so I could compare it to the Streamline that I used yesterday. I was surprised at how easy the MMOC is to use in comparison. The Streamline kept my attention on the edge in a way similar to a straight razor. The MMOC seems more forgiving with the range of "not cutting" and "cutting too much". This does not mean that I don't want a Streamline :)

This was my first use of Let'er Buck. It has a very complex scent profile and a fragrance that is supposed to celebrate the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. I thought it would probably smell like horse or bull, but instead, Eric has tried to capture the aroma of the "occasion". It is a mix of bourbon, leather, tobacco, spice, and some other things that give it an earthy feel as well. The soap base is outstanding.

Very interesting! I find both of those razors very usable despite my general preference for mild razors. I've never considered the Streamline/Jewel to have a lot of blade feel, so it's interesting to hear that opinion!

I was surprised too. That's how it came across to me. Now that I've used the MMOC, I'll go back and compare the Streamline to it.

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla - Gen 1
  • Blade: Personna GEM Platinum Diamond Glide Double Edge (3)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Admiral - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Stargazer - Aftershave Serum

Very excellent. In my experience this razor works well with all of my favorite blades, and this one is no exception.

I love the CFG base. Sure it can be a little poofy if you're not careful, but when you know you know.
