It’s like you’ve read my inbox…

GladiusB@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

This is why leaving Reddit was easy. This was like my first interaction ten years ago.

DudePluto@lemm.ee · 6 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Are users notified when their report is declined? Lol

moody@lemmings.world · 3 pts · 2y

But I believe users on Reddit can be issued warnings if they abuse the report feature

I got a warning for reporting the comment-reposting bots. Basically their reply was there's nothing to report because it's not against the rules.

thepianistfroggollum@lemmynsfw.com · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I never had one declined, and I was basically a mod of /r/accidentalswaatika with how much I reported rule violations.

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 2y

I don’t believe lemmy notifies users if their report is dismissed. I started off messaging users and telling them what action (of any) I was going to take. But there’s too many of them now so I either dismiss them, or delete the offending comment and give the person who violated the rules a warning.

mustardman@discuss.tchncs.de · 4 pts · 2y

You know who doesn't act like asshats when they get banned? Spammers. Even spammers are like "yeah I get it" lol.

cosmicboi@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Users always crying 😂

justlookingfordragon@lemmy.world · 73 pts · 2y

I have a youtube account and was once accused of stealing content from my own reddit account, which had identical usernames. Plus the reddit account had a link to the youtube channel and vice versa.

... but even tho it was a bit of a brain fart, I still appreciate that people are looking out for potential content thieves. I'm not even mad - I'd rather get a false positive every now and then instead of having my content stolen (again).

glimse@lemmy.world · 44 pts · 2y (13 replies)

No idea why this is just a screenshot of a Word document but the source is this.

42_words was (is?) a user who ran a sub of the same name. Every post, including this one, had 42 words. So does this comment.

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 49 pts · 2y (11 replies)

The photo is literally a screenshot of that tweet, just not in dark mode. Why on earth would it be from a word document?! Or was that addition purely so you could make your comment 42 words long? Like this one is.

Laticauda@lemmy.ca · 27 pts · 2y (6 replies)

The average lemmy user probably forgets that light mode exists on twitter.

nogrub@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y (1 reply)

i forget that twitter or whatever we call it now even exists

edit: im now calling it twix

orphiebaby@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Don't tarnish the delicious name of Twix :<

Alexstarfire@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Hey, we only accept responses that are 42 words long in this thread. You best try again.

Hmm, wonder what else I can say to get this to 42 words. Wouldn't you know it, this is just enough to make it work.

Annoyed_Crabby@monyet.cc · 1 pts · 2y

Wdym it exists? It's the only option. Dark mode is just a trickery on your mind.

stebo02@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 2y

light what now? what's light?

abaddon@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 2y

The old social media service that was ruined by a man child? I thought that was dead.

Nelots@lemm.ee · -3 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Light/dark mode aside, why didn't you include the source in the screenshot?

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 10 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Because lemmy’s rules state no identifying information. It’s in the side bar too.

Nelots@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Sorry, I must be blind because I can't find that rule in the sidebar, nor the code of conduct for lemmy.word or lemmy.org. Regardless, I wasn't trying to call you out or anything, I was just confused by the decision.

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 2y

It was in the code of conduct by I’m getting an error message now. Here’s the view in a search engine preview

But this is what you get when you click it now.

Regardless, it’s the rule here. I’ll update the sidebar when I get a minute. But as I’m the only contributor so far (and you’re not calling me out) I don’t think it’s an urgent task for 1.30am on a weeknight!

MadBob@feddit.nl · 5 pts · 2y

Reminds me of the time I got into an argument on Twitter, and I asked someone for proof of something, and they sent me a screenshot of a Wordpad document. I said I was born in the afternoon, but not that afternoon.

BigMcLargeHuge@lemmynsfw.com · 42 pts · 2y (8 replies)

I run a porn community and one of my posts got reported for being NSFW. On an NSFW community. On an NSFW instance. I don't know what they were expecting.

amio@kbin.social · 11 pts · 2y

Probably, neither did they.

LeafOnTheWind@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

I mean, were they wrong?

Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (4 replies)

What instance? Asking for biological research

hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Just click their profile lol

Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Fuck, why pregnant women...

kameecoding@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y

well, fuck is exactly why, according to my sex ed 101.

over_clox@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Because sex makes babies, duh.

thepianistfroggollum@lemmynsfw.com · 2 pts · 2y

That's like the people who were outraged about Snoop Dogg smoking weed before the superbowl halftime show.

fckreddit@lemmy.ml · 31 pts · 2y (6 replies)

Now do the right thing and block yourself from the sub you are moderating.

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 24 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Funnily enough you can’t do that. You also can’t remove yourself as a mod if you created the community.

stebo02@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 2y (3 replies)

you can if there's other mods no?

since it's Reddit you can also just remove your account

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Nope. Check out !badrealestate and you’ll see this account as mod and a few other SomeoneElse that are me. And there’s somebody29 which is an alt account I no longer use. I can’t remove it as mod as I used it to create the community. I believe the instance owner can remove it but they haven’t replied to me.

stebo02@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

oh you were talking about lemmy

SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 2y

Yeah. I’m not OOP, I’ve never been a mod before lemmy. Kind sucks tbh!

Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Literally subreddit suicide

Transcriptionist@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 2y (5 replies)

Image Transcription:

Black text on a white background reading:

"So somebody just explained to me how what I'd just posted to a subreddit wasn't suitable for that sub.

I replied that, as the creator, moderator and basically only contributor to said subreddit, I respectfully disagreed.

And he reported me.

To me."

[I am a human, if I’ve made a mistake please let me know. Please consider providing alt-text for ease of use. Thank you. 💜]

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You are prolific with this. I see you as much as I used to see sprog and portarossa

Transcriptionist@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Oh, I don't think I'm that prolific, but I appreciate it.

MonkderZweite@feddit.ch · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Yes, text as image is dumb. Why do people do that?

Astronautical@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 2y

Easier to share a post with words on it than to copy paste things everywhere? Also makes context that much easier, too.

Transcriptionist@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Personally I'd prefer a screenshot of a post than just a copy-paste of the post, easier to see the context, etc., and I'm also more aware that it's not the OP's take, but something they saw.

Yeah i used to moderate and i've actually had my own posts and comments reported on my own sub.

Also i got in an argument once and they threatened to report me, not understanding that i had been the main moderator for 8 years.
