Are there any good Lemmy communities for American expats going to the EU?

The EU is not a single country, so it would be helpful to know which country they’re going to

You'd find a much better group of people if you avoid the label "expat" like a plague...

Like, you're going to the EU, half the people speak conversationial English, it's not like you're going to be isolated.

If you're traveling for work or whatever, be honest about it and call yourself whatever existing label fits. Definitely don't go around Europe calling yourself an American expat. Or maybe do?

It's a red flag and it might be appropriate, I don't know.

Interesting. I haven't at all had the experience that saying that is detrimental to me social, from locals or foreigners

Americans are afraid to call themselves immigrants. The supremacy brain is so ingrained people don't even think about why we call Americans moving to a different country expating but call others moving to America immigrating.
