Read up on Discordianism. Fight the horrors with silliness.

Do not remove the load-bearing whimsy

That line really resonated:

I feel a lot of sympathy for the Dadaists, who started their absurdism movement in reaction to the horrors of WWI.

I think it's beyond sympathy and well into empathy now

I do, deep down. Whose art is this?

sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml · 9 pts · 235d (10 replies)

I wish I knew

dublet@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 235d (2 replies)

Appears to be "Wizard of Barge", they posted it on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DK-RCnsylj8/ and Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bargewizard/posts/1300488548115144/

Their web store has similar style prints, though not this exact one https://wizardofbarge.com/collections/prints-and-zines

Damn I haven't looked at facebook in a long time, it's almost repulsive to look at.

jaykrown@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 235d

Great that you found the artist.

I always find it interesting when I see cool popular art that is extremely difficult to attribute to the original artist who created it. I guess it happens because it's so popular that different renditions occur and the original artist didn't try to take ownership?

dublet@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 235d (5 replies)

extremely difficult to attribute to the original artist

Not particularly difficult, a search engine helped find an attribution of this in a few minutes. https://lemmy.world/post/41093754/21347534

jaykrown@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 235d (4 replies)

Which search engine?

dublet@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 235d (3 replies)

Literally just put this in https://duckduckgo.com/?q=we+must+remain+silly+cartoon and it popped up in the top results.

jaykrown@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 235d

Yea this was the problem, I saw it, but it was from other sites that don't attribute the original.

jaykrown@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 235d

The main issue I had was variants from other sources, and other sources that posted this art but without the original link.

UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 235d

Have you considered using the no AI version of duckduckgo? Props to the lemminator that shared this with me. Sorry I forgot who you were and where I learned this.

Molotovs and revolution can be silly if you make it so. Dress your enemies as clowns before thier execution maybe?

Sektor@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 235d

No. You need to act.

I’m afraid I lost my whimsy long ago, and I don’t know how to get it back. 🫩
