I recall reading a study showing that Republican voters more easily change their opinions to match what their leaders are saying than Democrats do. I'm not sure what words to Google to find the study now that it's been a few years since it was done, though.
The level of groupthink that conservatives have is unparalleled. They constantly need to be reminded that they are the in group.
Look at all the Trump merch available to show their shibboleth. These people need others in their group to know that they are in their group.
It's why Fox News is so powerful. They get their talking points from there. What Trump hasn't realized yet is that Fox News can turn the tide on him very quickly if he's not careful.

Nor really, no. They kinda did a little for a short while and rather than abandon Trump, they temporarily abandoned Faux News in favor of Newsmax, OAN, or getting all their news on Facebook and Twitter.
Some have since returned after Faux stopped pretending to be independent of the Mango Mussolini, but the competitors are still MUCH more influential than before, which is a constant reminder to Faux that they have to keep enthusiastically licking his rancid taint or suffer the consequences.
You can not listen to anything MAGA says. Words mean nothing to them. They have no convictions, and have no quals about lieing or changing their minds hourly.
You can only look at their actions. Ignore thier words.
Trump could tell his supporters that he needs to shit in their mouths to “own the libs” and they would be more then happy to line up with their mouth open like a bunch of baby birds and say “yummy!”
They don't think, most Americans don't understand what the process consists of, they're emotional beasts of spin and propaganda and I see it here daily.

Studies have also shown that conservatives lack empathy. Like literally the empathy center of their brain doesn't activate. It's just not there.
