Things have gotten so bad in America that they no longer view voting and protesting as a viable way to achieve change in the system. As a result, more and more of them are calling for a revolution—and not all of them think peace is an option. In this video, we’ll discuss how declining material conditions, the collapse of the state, and rise of fascist authoritarianism has led to a conversation about the need to rise up and overthrow the system.
More Americans are Saying the Quiet Part Loud: They Want a Revolution

Lmfao. I get banned for this shit and now it’s being talked about?
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · 5 pts · 247d
TBH I don't really trust anything that TropicalDingDong fellow says.
TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 247d
Why?
Do you actually even know why?
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · 2 pts · 247d
We've had lots of arguments in the past. You don't exactly appear like a Tankie, but you're definitely not a supporter of the DNC and you recently made a joke about poisoning strangers with a package that sprays Urushiol .
TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 247d
We've had precisely one argument in the past.
It was me warning you that you were engaging in a form of slippery slope with regards to antisemitism. I pushed back on you for that and you decided from then on we were enemies.
And as I said in my joke, I would only ever extract urushiol for entirely legitimate purposes.

Oh we've had a lot of arguments. A LOT. At least one since I moved to this instance.
TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 247d
I'll take your word on that. But I'm standing by what I said. We were fine until I called you out for antisemitism.
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · 0 pts · 247d
Feel free to link to that, I've never discriminated on basis of religion.

Wait a second here. You're actually a supporter of the DNC? Really? Holy shit.
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · 2 pts · 247d
The DNC platform:
Tax the Rich
Ban PACs
Public Option healthcare identical to Germany's
Protect the Environment
Ban discrimination
Antimonopoly enforcement
halcyoncmdr@piefed.social · 5 pts · 247d
That's the platform on paper. Whew is any of it. They never even tried to do any of it when they controlled all branches of government.
They get the same corporate donations as the GOP, and those are the same investors they run to constantly. The only reason they even exist is as a lesser of two evils in the useless FPTP election system the US uses.
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · -3 pts · 247d
There is no way you made it here without seeing my other response to a nearly identical reply.
sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 247d
Sure. I'll believe it when I see it. Historically, recent history at least, they have stood for the oligarchy and doing whatever they could to keep progressives out of office. Their most important goal is raising money and maintaining two party rule. Don't get me wrong, DNC every single time over GOP, but let's be honest. That's not much of a bar to step over, and I'm surprised you don't expect better.

DNC have not had more than 48 senate seats in 13 years. When they did have 58 senators in 2010, for less than 2 months of congress in session, they caucused with 2 independents to have supermajority to pass the Affordable Care Act which gave free healthcare to over 50 Million americans and made healthcare more affordable to a comparable number of people, they would have passed that Public Option healthcare plan if not for Independent Senator Joe Leiberman refusing.
They also banned PACs in 2003, something they were attempting since 1995, and it lasted until 2007-2010 at which point the SCOTUS deemed it unconstitutional in the Citizens United ruling.
As far as banning discriminattion, protecting the environment, antimonopoly enforcement, and taxing the rich: there are examples of all of those things from every single DNC presidency and congress.

ineedmorecoffee@lemmy.cafe · 1 pts · 247d
It’s okay. Within…3ish months I’ll be in another country any I can stop subscribing to US news and encourage them to help themselves.
I can focus on NOT US… oh gosh that sounds good.

You were stupid enough to admit to ban evasion which is a bannable offense, which led me to look at the modlog, so, yeah, banning you from my communities as well.
ineedmorecoffee@lemmy.cafe · 3 pts · 247d
But I wasn’t banned from new or politics lol
jordanlund@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 247d
You're banned in News, World, and Politics at this point. I expect that will widen.
ineedmorecoffee@lemmy.cafe · 2 pts · 247d
I mean, you did that not me.
jordanlund@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 247d
Well, I did Politics and World, News was someone else. But I wouldn't have known if you hadn't pointed out being banned from News. 😉

Inb4 "removed by moderators"
TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 247d
Its moving squarely into much more mainstream channels and spaces. Lawmakers are calling for a general strike. Not to say moderators wont do what they do, but this isn't a fringe view any more. Not in 2026.
Drusas@fedia.io · 2 pts · 247d
I haven't heard about calls for a general strike. Who is calling for one?
chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 247d
Maybe this is true but I don't think a selection of tiktok videos is a good metric for this
ineedmorecoffee@lemmy.cafe · 4 pts · 247d
Oh btw if you talk about revolution in this community you will be banned. So, good luck commenting

Amazing video. Great to see this sentiment growing.

Okay, but a lot of the people who have and use guns are on the side of the authoritarians.
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online · 4 pts · 247d
I wager that they're probably just more vocal about it. There is a lot of work to do to build a bigger and stronger resistance, but if it came down to it I think only 25% of the civilian gun owners would be fighting for the Trump Admin's civil war. The bigger issue is the non-civillian guns and tanks and bombs.
