An interesting dive into how growing up in a totalitarian regime has a brutalizing effect on children.

This seems a particularly odd article because its authored in the US, where once a week some kid is shooting their fellow students.

I actually find the fact that becoming a more militarized wartime state has induced similar instances of violence in Russia to be really interesting. Up until this point, most other countries assumed there was something unique about US culture that resulted in school shootings, but showing some sort of hypothetical link between wartime mobilization and mass violence is interesting and the US interventionism has only been increasing along with their mass shootings.

That's not what the article shows though. Some kid with mental helth issues and a knife is not the same as mass school shootings evwry other week and a kid shooting his dad witha gun for taking his Nintendo off him.

Not disputing the toixicty faced by Russian children but any country with adulatuon of the military will face similar problems. Look at the horrors in Israel similarly.

Libby doesn't have The Atlantic. Anyone know of a discounted source? If really like to read some of their articles but $80/yr is a lot.
