I do love this Damaskeene! It's the mildest GEM I've ever used, but still shaves nice and close as long as you're willing to do some buffing.

Open or closed comb Damaskeene?

Nice. I have an open comb, it’s also very mild.

I'm reading opinions that the open comb version is even milder.
I think I've also heard there is a bit of variation from razor to razor.

Oh, that’s interesting! I wouldn’t think that different razors of the same time would differ, but I suppose manufacturing was a little less sophisticated back then.
I’ve also heard that the open comb is the milder of the two, which surprised me.

January 19th, 2026: Mike's Monday
Two close and comfortable passes with the ERN, plus some clean up on my neck with a Flying Wing.
Some fruity post shave stuff fit well with the relatively warm weather we've been getting in California recently. Just lovely.

A good shave with the glorious Opuntia. The only way to improve this soap would be to increase the scent (and especially the aftershave is very weak).
Have a good day!
