Will they also join the banks that don't require Google Services on their phones?

I'm using N26 on my degoogled phone with microG.

I believe it's only used for push notifications, SafetyNet/Play Protect are not necessary.

I'm using N26 on GrapheneOS without Google services. Works fine.

Is there any bank that doesn’t require that?

atro_city@fedia.io · 2 pts · 216d

A few, but I don't know if it's coincidental or desired. They keep babbling about "security", but is reliance on Google really security?

It works with microG

But it's still Google pay, right?

Ungraded@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 216d

As far as I know Google pay is not supported. It is however an open source implementation of the google Play services. It will still talk to google services but apparently send fewer data.

There's no alternative yet right?

marius@feddit.org · 1 pts · 216d

There's garmin pay and Sparkasse and Volksbank have their own service

That's great news. I thought about opening an account with them for a while, for a bit of ETF/Stock fun. Wero's a nice bonus.

RIP GNU Taler

It honestly never stood much of a chance.

Not trying to deter anyone from trying it, but be aware their support is mostly AI 2020 level and it has very bad critics because of that. You can't trust money to them if they don't have support.

Not a N26 only critic, mostly neobanks excluding some. Please do research before putting your money in there, otherwise I liked the app very much and honestly hoped the support was better
