Says the person that obviously has never eaten fried fish. Or also oysters.

Anyway, I just discovered that English has the same word for the crabs that walk on the ground and the ones that swim around. Those taste completely differently.

Anyway, I just discovered that English has the same word for the crabs that walk on the ground and the ones that swim around. Those taste completely differently.

Please describe the difference

Worx@lemmynsfw.com · 17 pts · 222d

One set of them walks on the ground, the other set swims

Hope this helps

marcos@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 223d

Yeah, I can't describe that one. But people don't even eat the same parts of those crabs.

One taste crawly one taste swimmy

What language splits these up and what is the words

marcos@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 221d

Portuguese: "carangueijo" vs. "sirí"

Apparently, the later are a single family:

The first is a very general name. But AFAIK, people eat those:

Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 222d

I am okay if billionaires want to keep exploring the ocean in homemade submarines. That doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Ulvain@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 222d (1 reply)

You make an excellent point - that's a go fund me i can get behind. Cram Bezos, Musk and the bunch in a Titan II, and have them visit the Mariana trench....

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 222d

We should fill that trench so full of billionaires they call it marinara

Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 222d

Now hold on, I hope some billionaires join in the fad of deep sea submersible instant crushing, real humanitarian effort it seems.

Godric@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 222d (2 replies)

Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 221d (1 reply)

When was the last time you saw a cooked shrimp swimming?

Godric@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 221d

Last time I had seafood boil, fuckers were swimming with the andouille and potatoes

kingblaaak@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 223d (4 replies)

subnatica does the job for me

Godric@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 222d (3 replies)

Subnautica makes underwater both terrifying and cozy at the same time. Wonderful game exploring the force of nature that is water!

Jumbie@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 220d (2 replies)

Should I play this game? I’ve avoided it because it seemed like work.

You know what I’m talking about: “Gather this many sticks to make this bigger stick and it’ll all deteriorate if you don’t bind it with glue crafted from hot piss and gum! Oh and there’s a time limit. Survive!”

Is it that or actually fun and immersive?

Godric@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 220d (1 reply)

I'm usually in the same boat, dead sick of survival builders, but Subnautica is fantastic. The ocean is so varied and beautiful that harvesting resources never feels like a chore, and seeing the bioluminescent alien fish swim in the moonlit sea at night is joyous.

It goes on sale pretty regularly for <$10, I reccomend you pick it up and play it blind, and refund it if it isn't your cup of tea.

Jumbie@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 220d

I started it a long time ago on Xbox and got distracted by other games (cough, Destiny 2, cough). To be clear, I didn’t mind what I briefly played.

Maybe I’ll try it on the Playstation 5 Pro. Maybe I’ll watch some YouTube videos first. I like games that pull me in and keep me in their world for a long time. Any suggestions?
