Thank you so much! I managed to restore it from peri menopausal hair loss and stress-related alopecia, so now I want to show it off. It was far from fabulous a couple of years ago.
I got minoxidil in pill form through hers.com. I tried Nutrafol for like 2 years before that and I don’t think it made a huge difference. I also tried topical minoxidil, and it was such a pain, I ended up not doing it twice a day like you are supposed to.
Thanks! I do really love the feeling of running my hands through my hair after it’s been washed and conditioned. It just bothers me so much with how it turns greasy within about 24 hours of washing it.
Wow, I had no idea it had to do with coloration, but I guess that makes sense. The first time I heard the term was Ryan Reynolds saying something about a summer balayage in one of the Deadpool movies, lol.
I thought it was the wavy locks cascading down your back… which looks fabulous by the way.
Thank you! For context, this dye job cost $265 (tip included) so I most certainly my don’t just “wake up like this” but I am very happy with the result 😍
Love the look. This type of post makes me happy because it feels like this community's ultimate purpose being realised. This is good content with an appreciable audience that is under-served around here. For a while I have felt this place could be used to test the waters for new communication.
This isn't an area I'm personally very experienced in but maybe a !hairstyling community or something similar may find success around here.

Thank you! It’s actually pin straight, but my stylist did an amazing job curling it.

Your hair isn’t purple?
ickplant@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 220d
Not in real life! Although that’s probably not too far off into my future.

How did you do that? I’m a guy in my 40s with long hair and it’s thinning a bit and also quite frustrating to deal with.

I’m so glad it worked for you. Your hair really is quite stunning!
I think I may end up just chopping my hair off!

Mine sort of does too, I just started washing it more often and using the least amount of dry shampoo I can between washes.

Is that what I’ve heard referred to as a balayage?
ickplant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 220d
Nope, these are just subtle highlights. Baylage usually means a gradual color/hue/saturation change from top to bottom.

Yeah, I'd definitely need something for the grays and also need to grow it out.
